(thanks to Mele20 for the news)

I am very very very sorry to read this news from Paul-ZX (Zhen-Xjell):

    http://www.computercops.biz/index.php

    Quotes:

I'm basically putting out a notice to everyone, that unless I can get some sort of serious funding to continue operating then these may be the final days of the sites being in operation. The bad guys are hitting us the only way they can... in the wallet. It'd break my heart to see this place go away because growth has gone far beyond the funding at hand.

    - end quotes -

There is also a thread about it here at DSLR

Let's help our friends over at ComputerCops !

I wanted to support the site also, but it seems it doesn't exist anymore o_O
I tried also the link on DSLR .

Why does the European Community doesn't anything. I am soooo tired of all the s... (=ugly word) on the web.

There also seems not enough ( not so comp literate, like me ) people aware of it.If all the internetusers would donate something or wrote an email to the politicians....

    Quoting Mele20 at that DSLR-thread:

Unable to send the fee via PayPal? We accept either Money Order or Certified Cashiers Check made out and sent to:

    Computer Cops, LLC
    PO Box 325
    Mount Laurel, NJ 08054

    - end quote -

Do I understand it right that you can send an international money transfer and use that email-address (posted by Illukka) to let Paul know?

    Thanks, Jan.

The reason I didn't post this here too is because my thread was locked at dslr supposedly for "blatant solicitation of funds" which is against dslr policy. I didn't intend the thread to be a solicitation for funds (and am stunned and deeply troubled that it was locked) but rather I was quoting Paul in order to inform the dslr members of what was happening to this fine security site and to Paul who is a very long time member and mod at dslr. I had intended to post something here but then after my thread was locked, I was afraid of violating the same sort of policy here although I actually have no idea what the policy is here on the sort of post that I made at dslr.

Obviously the policy must be different here because this thread hasn't been locked.

Computer Cops is back up for now so you can use PayPal if you would like to help. However, if you don't currently have a PayPal account and set up one you can't use your credit card for a whole month! So, you can do what I did yesterday which was to get a cashiers check or money order made out to the address that FanJ refers to. I just had my credit union (where I got the cashiers check for free) put my full name and my user name on the check so I don't even think I'll need to email Paul as he can just look me up via my user name but yes you can use that email address to email Paul about the money order.

FanJ, as for an "international money transfer" if you mean an electronic transfer from your bank to Computer Cops, no you can't do that. You Europeans are far ahead of the U.S.A. as far as sophisticated, intelligent handling of money payments goes. Paul doesn't want personal checks so that is why he has asked for what we in the USA call bank or other financial institutions checks or a purchased money order.

It now seems that Computer Cops problems are due to the gaobot worm and one person who had redirected all traffic from his closed site to Computer Cops and Nuke Cops. You can read about it in Computer Cops host's forum here. ~~ link removed by request of target site ~~

Ronny, A complaint has been filed with the FBI INternet Crime Complaint Center by TMOV. See page 8 of the above link for details. TMOV asks that anyone affected by the DDos of Computer Cops please add their remarks to his FBI complaint.

Further Paul is selling Nuke Cops in an effort to save Computer Cops. Very sad situation and I think anyone concerned about security and the internet should try to help in whatever way they can because if this excellent site is successfully closed down then who is next? Wilders? DSLreports? We will all suffer if good sites like Computer Cops, which provides excellent security information and help, can be run off the internet at the whim of some scumbag.

    Mele,

    Some small comments:

Paul/Zhen surely is an exception to the rule here as for we are concerned. He's an Admin over here, we go back a very long way - and he's a friend.

I'm pretty sure Justin will do all to prevent such a thing in regard to DSLR.

Overall, running sites like these (ours included) comes with at least a US$500/month price tag. In case we want to all want to be prepared, all comes down to funding. Improving defenses does come with a substantial extra price tag for sure.

    regards.

    paul

It's the support forum intended for those hosting over on Jag. There's no way around here Nick - one either signs up or there's no access/other link.

    regards.

It is very difficult to donate to all the sites because PayPal seems to be the only means of paying. I and many like me do not like PayPal. What is the matter with Visa/Mastercard. I am a member of many sites I would willingly contribute to if it were made easier to pay.
I send my best wishes to ComputerCops and hope all works out well for it. :)

Thanks everyone for your help and donations. I have to update the information on checks, I'm accepting personal ones now since I opened up an account just for the site. Its been one heck of a ride.

Thanks Paul for letting this thread stay here. Mike from Spywareinfo also picked up the story in today's newsletter too.

    Thanks to everyone.
