Could you post some screen shots of the script scanner in action?

Add/remove was slower with the the stable version but I did not get CPU spikes or delays with Start Menu icons.

Start Menu and Add-remove was delayed for me, and opening a folder full of executables caused the CPU spike. Same is happening with this beta, at-least for me. Will re-test tonight with a clean install of win 7 x86. BTW, you are using x86 or x64 Windows?

From what you are saying, I'm not gonna waste my time with it. I have the issues you describe for every single beta and release. I install them and let em run for three days and it's always the same. I can tame it alot with process exclusions but every re-boot/startup is a choker. It takes a long time for the desktop to fully load with MSE installed. My wifes laptop is x64 and I have it installed for her with no problems at all. I guess I will stick with what I have now.

Removed the old version and installed v 2.0.375.0.Looks good , no slowdowns so far(similar to the old version).Still dont know what they mean by "Windows Firewall integration"(what type of integration o_O ,must be important since they mention it :doubt: ).
"Network inspection system"o_O o_O i thought every anti malware software running realtime already had that. So not much information from Microsoft as usual:(

I'm using it as of yesterday morning and no problems so far.
removed the previous version, did a clean up and installed the beta without issues.
It is true that the desktop takes a second or two more to load but for a beta I find it very stable and since I've had no issues with the previous version I think this one will do just fine too.
Wish Microsoft would give more info on it's capabilities though.

First boot went ok but now MSE turns red(unprotected status) for a few seconds and then turns green.I haven't been able to find the problem yet.
The boot time is even slower than the previous one :( , i am going to keep it for few days then maybe move to the stable version or maybe Avast.
Looks like same old wine in a new bottle.

For what I could notice in version 1, the red to green status also occurred. It still does. If normal behavior or not, I don't know. But, most of the times it is always green.

Also, give it time to become stable. Even version 1 as it is, is way more lighter than many other solutions out there. At least, that's my experience.

I restarted the microsoft antimalware service and explorer.exe service and it did help now the red to green status is not seen but the boot is very slow.

Running a full scan right now(its taking for ever); Looks like i am gonna keep it:) ..you are right its free and lite and provides very good protection :thumb:

While surfing the dark side and acting like an idiot, MSE seems to work pretty well.

Didn't catch everything though, but that's to be expected.

I don't remember anyone mentioning it, and perhaps some of you already know it, but in case others don't, here's a tip to check for updates more often.

    1. First open Notepad or some other editor, and write the following:

    2. Save the file as MSE.bat (that's the name I gave it). You can save with any other name you like, of course. Place the bat file to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Client (that's where I put it).

    3. Create a task by doing the following:

Start Menu - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Task Scheduler. Click it. You need administrative rights.

    4. Click "Task Scheduler Library".

    5. Click "Create Task". It's on the right corner, at the top.

6a. In the "General" tab attribute any name you like to make a quick reference to the task you're creating in the "Description" field, so you know what it is.
Make sure you select "Execute with full rights". Also make sure you select the user account that you start session with.

    6b. In the "Triggers" tab click "New" - "Start a task" - "In a schedule" - "Only/One".
Input the period of time you want MSE to check for updates. Mine's 35 minutes, which is more than OK. Make sure the amount of time is set to "Indefinitely".
    Make sure "Activated" is selected.

6c. In the "Actions" tab click "New" - "Action - Start a program" - "Program/script - where you saved MSE.bat file"

6d. In the "Conditions" tab make sure you select it to only start the task when an Internet connection is active.

6e. In the "Definitions" tab make sure you remove the selection from "Stop task if executed for more than".

That's it. To make sure it's working, start the task manually and see if it's updating. Then, according from the time you set it to update, a command line window will appear minimized. That means it is checking for updates.

P.S: My Windows isn't English, so the terms may different. I don't know what exact words the English version has, but if not the same, pretty much the same.

I'm wondering if this is a normal behavior.

Only now I was able to update the beta version. I updated it, and checked for new updates again... (Some crazy idea, I guess)... But, I got an error error code 0x800705b4. It does check for updates and tries to install them (Oddly?), but I always get the same error code.

    Do you experience the same?

Edit: I think I have found the problem. Somehow, Windows Update got screwed after installing this beta version. First time I tried to install the update from within Windows Update, I'd get an error code as well. Stop I restarted Windows Update service, and then, though not installing the update, I don't get an error. The message saying that an important update also disappears... If I recheck for new updates it appears again.

    I'm guessing it's a bug.
