    Thank you.:)
Do you have any more information on..."Windows Firewall integration – During setup, Microsoft Security Essentials will now ask if you would like to turn the Windows Firewall on or off".
Its a bit confusing and unclear.

I hope they'll add option to disable archive scanniing for real-time scanner.
Current implementation is retarded and slow. Or at least option to limit how big archives to scan, larger to automatically exclude.

Since I am not in US, Israel or Cina, I can't betatest it. :(

If possible, can one of the wilders betatesters ask if they will add a firewall configuration tool?

MSE 1 has hardcoded firewall rules https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=277604 and its impossible to troubleshoot/ modify them. At the moment the only solutions I found is either disable the realtime engine or uninstall it alltogether.

    thanks,
    Panagiotis

I shame I can't test it, because although it are not really specified changes the changelist is quite appealing.

The only true thing that really makes me wonder is the Web Based threat protection improvement. I want to know what they mean by that and how they connect with IE.

Same here. I'd really not like anything to hook into IE, myself. I might be stretching things a bit, but would it be possible to be facing the same old situation of "since it affects IE, it affects Windows too" type of deal, where a flaw in IE could infect the whole system? I'd hate my MSE to get screwed over by an IE flaw. Again, it might be a non-issue, but it does make me wonder.

Really, its about time. The impact it has on the overall feel of the system is terrible for such a simple app.

I live in Spain and was able to download the beta using FTM. Still consume a little high of ram ( one more process now, NisSrv.exe "Microsoft Network Inspection") but uses a lot less of CPU while browsing folders.

    New options for real-time protection:

How does Microsoft Network Inspector work? Does it scan every PC on your Network? Is it like the Avast network shield?

Couldn't you just disable the scanning of the extensions of the archives by excluding file type?

The old option to disable archive scanning is still there, maybe they made it apply to real-time too now? No idea.

I had severe issues trying to get the download links to work - so here are some mirrors:
    MSE 2.x 32bit
    MSE 2.x 64bit
    edit - fixed links

    Installation:
    • Verify file is signed by Microsoft before installation
    • If prompted to join the Customer Experience Program, say no, unless you actually want to (Note: It has nothing to do with Microsoft SpyNet)
    • If prompted to turn on the Windows Firewall, but it's already on, say yes, say no if you're using a 3rd party firewall
    • Restart PC
    • Hit the update definitions button, may take a while

Installed it and it's running fine.
Still lots of RAM is in use but I can't feel any slowdowns on system with this version.
I'm wondering about web protection (IE only) , I was thinking anyway to switch from FF to IE, this might be a good reason to do that :)

Using it right now,i am in Brazil,so far so good, did the eicar test, with internet explorer and it did catch all, including the ssl and .text,i would like to see the results of a more elaborate test to see if they have improved their detection capabilities...The explorer does not seem to lag while browsing my file folders,it feels more responsive...

Lol, that's probably all it does, ask. The term "Windows Firewall integration" does kind of spark thoughts of it doing something other than a popup dialog asking if you want to turn the firewall on especially considering if one doesn't have the notification turned off, this feature is already provided

I have been reading over at the Remove Malware forum and from what people over there have said the IE connection is kinda like a Script Scanner. Also people have said MSE is blocking the well known Test file as soon as you click download.
