I think someone asked this in the KL Forums, if I remember correctly the answer was something like "it is already implemented/functional but hasn't been put to use yet".
    Maybe by CF2o_O?

Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've had no issues with the last four or five versions of Kaspersky by the time they reach release status and each one has been lighter and quicker on my computer than the one prior.

I don't doubt the existence of bugs, since more than a few people have experienced them... it's been smooth sailing for me though and I've used Kaspersky for years now.

So does anyone that has installed this build recommend it over the 2010 version?

    No, if you:
    - Have Windows 7 and use the Windows Photo Viewer. If you use a third party photo viewer it's OK.
    - Want to control exactly which components you have installed. There is no custom install.

There is a sensible improvement in performance, 2010 was considerably heavier in my experience. I'm using 2011 only because of that.

For Windows 7 users I'd advise using this build until the first patch has been released (via Update Center), it will resolve the major issues this build has.

Also, for anyone using 232 and experiencing hangs on update, this build fixes that issue.

When are they going to get a custom install (I won't install until I am able to control what is installed)?

    Yep.
In my opinion it sure is faster and more secure than 2010

Maybe CF2, I don't really know. o_O It was there when CF1 testing started but it might have been removed because of time constraints...I hope (this release was also rushed a bit).

    I'd recommend 400 over 232, many improvements.
I'm currently using it on Windows 7 x64 with a third-party image viewer (FastStone Image Viewer).

Download is now available from the official site.:)

I recommend it if you are not running Vista or 7 because the Windows photo viewer bug freezes your computer.

My experience with KIS has been very positive, although they removed the custom installation, which is a large negative point imo.

However its AV component is still good, it's light, its HIPS is very strong and the most silent I've ever seen (in Interactive Mode, so KIS throws pop-ups instead of deciding silently what to allow and what to block). I haven't seen many legit applications without digital signatures which wouldn't have been in its KSN whitelist. And KIS also has a sandbox.

2011's GUI is also good, and KIS is very configurable.

The thing which I don't like though is that they're always rushing their releases, which is visible in the amount of bugs the releases contain. I usually don't recommend to use their new versions until they've reached Critical Fix 2.

Wrong, time constraints has nothing to do with the decision to remove the modular installation.

In comparison to v2010, in my opinion, v2011 CF1 is much lighter on the system and the HIPS/ApplicationFilter is far easier to use (like the v2009 HIPS rather than the v2010).
v2011's GUI is also nicer and simpler and the RescueDisk can be installed to a USB via Kaspersky's GUI.
No option for modular installation is not a problem for most, just pull the settings down to as low as possible for those you do not wish to use and its like it never existed.

Notice the "I hope" part. :doubt: Marketing made the call again? :cautious:
The complaints to support weren't enough for them.

I hope they have fixed the problem with the warnings I get on 2010 - warning some components are disabled your computer may be at risk - all I did was disable anti-banner for goodness sake

Its very ironic that a CRITICAL FIX is released with a major, show-stopper, known BUG that freezes completely th OS in one of most common user action.

I talk about the photo viewer bug in W7.

Amazing. where the %@#$$ is the QA ?
is it *all* about money o_O

Well I got KIS for free because I was a beta-tester.

Just upgraded to CF1 (as I'm running XP), and it's lighter than the original release and the Application Filter window is much more responsible. Now it loads in a second, in the original release it took a minute.

just goes to show how systems differ, it's the only security program that knocks all 3d benches on this pc. non other effect them. i know i could exclude them, but i dont have to with any other av. this is to me very heavy.
download a big patch from gamers hell and unzip it again a notable impact.
on this system nis, nod and nod + prevx seems a lot quicker.
but of course, as I said, all systems differ.
