All samples found live from last night to two months ago. From rooters to rogues to the kitchen sink.

    Hi,

I have to point that you have a Confusion from antivirus product to anti-malware products.

MBAM ,Emsisoft Antimalware and SAS are anti-malware product.

Those aim to clean infected PCs which is different from a antivirus product.

2 years old samples really means nothing.

There were actually about five benign files in my sample set which I forgot to mention.

And yes, samples that haven't been seen in a while I think are dropped from some databases to keep those databases small, fast and effective.

Thank you all for appreciation. @jmonge: have you noticed my comment about HMP there?

I thought what the hell. It's free, go for it. Didn't realise that it doesn't have resident protection. It's a scanner only. I was surprised nobody mentioned that. No real setup features as well. I thought it would have quite a few like file types and heuristics on/off etc. I'm giving it a whirl as I type. Simple interface with hardly any options. May be good as a back-up scanner. I'd be interested to see what it asks if it finds something... Anyone have any screenies?

Thanks for the link. Damn thing found an old trojan I had submitted to Kevin McAleavey of Boclean about 4 years ago. Zipped and password protected. Golden oldie of a trojan. DP likes to keep the database filling up.
