Is This Too Much Security?

I want to run my PC as fast as possible (Windows XP). I have the following security software installed:

1. NOD32,
2. Online Armor (paid),
3. Malwarebytes (paid), and
4. Prevx 3.0

I'm thinking of replacing Malwarebytes and Prevx 3.0 with Sandboxie. Is this suggested?

if you take the 2 in the midle your pc will run faster and very well protected

 

I think it is not overkill... but Sandboxie will also do the job. I also keep such settings.. Are you having any slowdowns?

 

You've got Online Armor, so your setup is str8 up very solid. I'd just pair Online armor up with an AV and your good to go..

 

If you really want to run your PC as fast as possible, then use NOD32 with one of the others. Why do you feel you need to run all four? Are you getting infected, having issues, etc.?

If not, and you practice safe hex, then you may just want to run NOD32 by itself (you could run sandboxie also, since the browser is the number one vector for malware infections).

 

I would remove NOD, pay for PREVX and keep the rest (free only versions).

 

The problem it's not " much " or " little ", but right. So, " many " sw well combined are right. Speaking about:

av
fw/hips
sandboxing or virtualising program.

Malwarebytes or A-Squared ( Emsisoft ) only on demand.

And fw hardware naturally.

 

The security arsenal is more than enough to tackle most of the threats

 

Just a tad too much scanners for my taste

I like to have 2 running AV's and all other on demand or HIPS

 

My opinion is that you have a good set up as is.

Hi mate, your setup looks solid. But I certainly, would never remove MalwareBytes, sure you could if you have it running in real-time, but it is an invaluable on-demand scanner.

I think, for right now I'll keep the security set up as it is. But as has been suggested, I might experiment with removing one or two programs and see what happens. If I'm infected then I would replace one program one at a time.
