    Prevx 3.0.5.178 with SafeOnline + F-Secure 2011 ISTP(DeepGuard disabled) +temporarily MBAM 1.46 real-time enabled....running Windows 7 X86:

    GUI-"check for updates">new version available>update now? yes>downloaded and installed 915kb-still saying build 178, rebooted-still same
build-o_O, rebooted, did deep scan, rebooted, still same....clicked Start menu, UAC appears(!) with C:\Program Data\PrevxCSI\~PrevxCSIUpdate/propUPDATE=Y/propEXIT=Y.
If allowed, needless to say installs again build 178. Saved a scan log.
I've obviously got something set wrong here now...internet connection wise?
Or all that occurs to me is that I reinstalled FF 3.6.6 last night before shutting
down, because I started getting recurring problems with start page (Ixquick)
    not loading last evening.
    Advice/help most welcome, please.

Do a clean install by removing Prevx via Add/Remove and reboot and download the lastest RC from http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?grab=edgebeta for 32bit/64bit and disable all other secuity and then install Prevx and after the learning scan install your license key and that should do it! ;) And please report back!

I'm now seeing this problem as well with RC178 repeatedly trying to upgrade. Using Win7 x64. Will wait to see if it resolves itself first.

So there is a version after RC178 released? As the link to the beta you gave is still RC178.

No it's still at .178 but doing a clean install should solve your problem make sure you have a copy of you license key to install it after the learning scan! ;) When Joe sees this thread he will comment why some are having this problem as it updated for me fine on both Win 7 32bit & 64bit!

Hold on I'm seeing that it keeps trying to re-update to .178 also after a scan! There must be a bug in the update service I will contact Prevx!! On both Win 7 32bit & 64bit.

I have the problem with my RC 3.05.174 program, which tells me that there's an update and when I try to download the update and/or run a scan it fails every time. Should I just download the new RC and remove the old RC? No big thing, but it's a bit confusing to me. My paid subscription date is accurate. Just curious. I'm on Vista x64.
    Thanks.

I would wait till Joe (PrevxHelp) comes by as I think there is a glitch in the program update system!

We're going to be releasing a new beta version as 3.0.5.179 soon but in the meantime it looks like there is a synchronization issue in the version numbers. You can continue using 178 without a problem, however, as 179 doesn't have any real changes (just a minor change for language file downloading on installation) :)

I would wait as TH says. They may issue a new release after 178 to fix the update problem, or fix it remotely.

If you are logged on as a limited user you can't update automatically. You will need to disable this so it doesn't try to update during a scan. Then to update using the update link in the GUI you can log out and log in as an administrator.

I'm still on 171, waiting for the next official release.

Best option....I'll send you a key (lifetime membership) for the new "INVOK" project...(IrishNaturalizedVirtualOnlineKeg).....pretty authentic, but not in the
same league as real Dublin Guinness of course!! LOL....
Excuse my Irish OT but then on this "issue" should we still try a freh install regardless, or wait for news on new build. I'll wait and see. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. Since I am the only user on my machine, I shouldn't have this problem - don't employ limited user control. Have installed the program as administrator. Perhaps I'm not understanding the procedure correctly, but will wait.
