You`re probly right. I don`t think ASK toolbar is more malicous than Yahoo or Google. But the issue is IMO: Can we users trust that these companies would block smiley central, or IAC`s other adware, when our kids tries to install it, not knowing what it is?

Now, that's a good question. If the toolbar is offering up malware then our product (or any other AV product) should be blocking it. I am not sure about the other content which is not malicious.

The new opt-in idea is acceptable, but maybe because of Ask's reputation you should switch to Yahoo! or others. You could do it like Panda Cloud AV which has a password locker and some other quick options in their Yahoo! toolbar to convince users to install it, so in the end you can get more money from it, and it's better for the company's reputation to be not associated with Ask, especially since the company is quite new and reputation takes a lot of time to get a good one, but can be destroyed in an instant ;)
Also I've experience with Ask toolbar not uninstalling properly and even when cleaned up still leaves modified settings behind. Like in Firefox, when the toolbar and standard search engine and homepage is back to default, it still goes to Ask when you misspell a URL sometimes, you have to go in about:config to change that back to normal.
Anyway what I'm trying to say is you're better off with an alternative to Ask in the long run ;)
