My mistake, it's by design. PCAV wasn't designed to be run in office networks with client-server apps.

I'll see if we can add that to the dev backlog for future versions.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'd like to think that Panda would want to see PCAV (paid) deployed in a small business environment. There is plenty of money to be made in that sector.

    Some news as of today:

    • Users of 1.00.* versions will see, starting today, a traybar notification with a link to download the new version 1.01.

    • We are including an optional Yahoo search toolbar in the installer. Of course users can opt-out during the install.

    • Users who click on the 1.01 upgrade notification will have a chance to buy the pro version for a 34% discount until the end of June (19.95).

It's the same 1.01 version that was released at the beginning of the month (Free & Pro).

We're just letting 1.00 users know about it via push traybar notifications so they can download it.

    So -
If I'm a new Panda Cloud AV user and I want to enjoy the 34% (above mentioned) discount :
I have to dig into the web , find panda cloud AV version 1.00 - install it and upgrade from there to 1.01 ?!

Yes, it's a little wacko, but the idea was to make it nice for the users who have been with us all along helping us grow CloudAV.

However you can also get it directly from here:

I would like to buy Pro version. But I am using 1.01 Free so I cannot use discount. No sense there. Right? :ouch:

    EDIT:

Oh ok. Wont buy Pro version then. What's up with these companies? You should check different scenarios.

    EDIT2:

Sorry. My bad just saw the direct link. Thank you.

Of course you can... simply go to the URL above, buy your License Key at the discounted price and enter it into to Free version to convert it to Pro.

Sorry about the confusion if I explained myself incorrectly

pbust, will there be a trial for the Pro version so people can test before they buy?
Also, there is a comparison comparing the different Panda home products on pandasecurity.com but PCAV and PCAV Pro are not compared there, could you add them there?

Having a free version is pretty much the same as trialing the pro, other than very few features (usb vaccination, automatic upgrades and behavioural analysis) which you're unlikely to "see in action" during a trial. Most of the good stuff is in the free version.

Regarding the comparison, send me the URL where you've seen this and I'll pass it on to the web/marketing team.

Do you want then to be compared with the Internet security and AV products? I think it is not possible as cloud AV is totally different line of products...
Comparison between the free and pro version is here.

I understand about the trial, but testing the behav. analysis would be nice though.

    Here's the link:
    http://www.pandasecurity.com/usa/homeusers/solutions/
On the main page, under homeuser & proffesionals there is a link called 'Choose an Antivirus' which leads to the comparison.

Yes, it may be difficult to compare them as their concepts are entirely different but they still share a lot of the same features.

How to disable the auto-deletion of suspicious/infected files?

There's another webpage where you can see all of them compared together, but it is out of date (from PCAV 1.0):
    http://www.pandasecurity.com/windows7

I've told the webteam to update it asap. In addition to what you see on the page PCAV 1.1 also adds the USB Vaccine, Behaviour Blocking and 24/7 Support.

No, just like many traditional AVs infected files are deleted automatically. Even though you can not disable this in PCAV, you can recover them easily from the Recycle Bin.

One of the reasons not to use and recommend PCAV because of this unfeasible behavior, which is a bug (not a feature!). Its the users decision to remove, rename or keep (ignore) such a file, like the correct way it is done by Avira for example.

It's not a bug, it's by design. The fact is that the vast majority of users out there do not know how to decide when presented with complex (for them) options and decisions about things they don't understand (malware).

I do agree that advanced users need this option, and we might add this in the future. Personally I would also like to have it. But the reality is that regular users do not need it. In fact they appreciate the fact that PCAV does not ask these questions.

I think having an option to enable prompting for advanced users would definitely be a plus. :thumb:

    +1

Though, it sounds like a good idea to have the auto quarantine feature ON by default.

But advanced users should still be able to uncheck this feature:thumb:
