It is pretty common for free programs to includes a toolbar, or ask to change your default search engine, etc... I really don't feel it is all that horrible. Nobody likes to work for free, including programmers.

The only issue that I've had so far was with install. I was asked to put my key in for the plus version during install. When it installed it was still the free version and I had to put the key in again. Other than that it hasn't been that bad. Running smooth at 15K with 2 process.

Someone telling at COU that while upgrading from v1 beta toolbar option can't be opt out.
I understand the inclusion of AskBar. But it will be ethical if it is unchecked by default.

If you dont get the option to disable the toolbar before installing, go download the bootstrap at download.com or our homepage..
    It should be fine..

I unchecked during install and the toolbar installed anyhow. Had to go back an uninstall toolbar. Not a big deal to do it. Probably a bug that will get fixed.

I think in the beta some people had this issue. I never had a problem though.

The first 2 beta versions had the problem with ASK but the 2.0.11.3 which is our current build should be fine..

I found that if you uncheck "Standard Install (custom) " when the ask toolbar option comes up, it doesn't get installed. Thats what i had always done anyway, and ASK toolber never got installed (even during the beta).

    Cheers.

Immunet 2.0 is running flawlessly on my GFs computer. I do not dare to test its protection capabilties though. Still, I'm going to invest time translating it to Swedish. The project is great and it's freaking free and runs next to any other AV. Perfect layered protection.

We will be shipping Trial, we have not yet simply because we have not had time. People who took part in the beta can attest that our Trial version exists, I a not sure when we will roll it out but it's planned.

    All,

Thanks for the thread, I always get a lot out of these things. I am going to be heads down for a while getting our localized/translated builds out and shipping some engine updates and changes. If I am not responsive on this forum, that's why.

    Best,
    al

Immunet is a small low-budget company with an estimate income on 2m and those money are not enough to cover every details of the program. Therefore ASK toolbar have been included to cover some of the expenses....

It was already told to me and now i am telling you this...:)

As long as the ASK Toolbar is included it will stay on the Installers Hall of Shame! Like I said many other AV's and AM's will detect it as malware or unwanted add-on! If someone wants a Toolbar they can go and download the one they want, there is no need to for it IMHO.

But to be very honest it won't affect Immunet Community if you add it in the Installers Hall of Shame (Unwanted add-on)..They need money in order to run their projectsuccessfully, so i think its the only and best way to cover-up their expenses. Not to be mention that i am against this crap toolbar, but still i understand their problem/concern ....

What i'll suggest them that, they should start look into other opportunities too...Like licensing their engine to other small AV companies, this will not only cover up their expenses but will give them more exposure to other areas too...:)

But they have the option to uncheck it...and as you know Norton also have toolbar which was powered by ASK, but you don't have the option to uncheck or uninstall it. But still millions of users are using that crappy toolbar with Norton...

Ok, I installed Immunet Plus yesterday. But now I can't download virus databases for Tetra engine. Bug? Update manager shows "11%" or "111%" progress.
