Avira premium for malware and Comodo for firewall.
If Avira starts to do some weird stuff, I'm going to switch to CIS4 full package and that would be the end of searching , I'm gettin' tired of it :D

Hi jmonge, if you have your D+ and Firewall setup properly you only get 2 pop-up's for a new program (assuming said program does not need to launch another process)

FileMenu Tools has some variables you can use in the menu entries. Both of the command line scanners have switches you can invoke using "/?". Using these it is pretty straightforward to create the menu entries. I've used FileMenu Tools to replace some of my old context menu items that were lacking icons too (I am faster at zeroing in on an entry with an icon than one without). You'll also find that with some inspiration you'll be able to uninstall many other dlls (using "regsvr32 /u dllfile" or Add/Remove Programs) that load with Explorer in favor of custom entries using FileMenu Tools. I've cut my context menu down by 1/3 - 1/2 it's old size depending on what I right-click. FileMenu Tools also has some really nice built-in tools.

It took a little time to get everything set up, but it was time well spent. I wish I had given this app a closer look when I first heard about it. Highly recommended! :thumb:

It's a shame, when you have win ultimate, not to use LUA, AppLocker... And get rid of anything else. If you understand what I just wrote, then it's just up to you, otherwise just ignore.

I think I have a stable setup. Let's see how much time it holds :D.

    First line of defense:
    • Avast! 5 with File & Behaviour Shields (I don't think I need any other shields with my setup)
    • CIS Premium (Firewall and Defense+)
    • Sandboxie (To protect Firefox and to test new software)

    Second line of defense:
    • Hitman Pro (daily scan)
    • MBAM (weekly, to check downloads)
    • Macrium Reflect (daily backup)

    Third line of defense:
    • Hostman (MVPS Hosts)
    • Norton DNS

Tried out FileMenu Tools, I really like it as well. Works perfectly fine in Windows 7 64-bit.
Also got scan context menu working.

    Running Power User
    - GPO lots of IE8/TCPIP hardening, restricting remote access, enabling CD burning for interactive user, disabled autorun
    - Basic user for office, internet facing aps, service aps (7=zip, flash, foxit, java. etc)
    - Deny Execute C:\Documents & Settings, Temp & Recycle dirs and Data partitions (also through ACL for basic user)
    - ACL deny execute on executables downloaded by browsers and mail programs (applicable on explorer)

    WinXp firewall (behind router)

    Avast 5 Free with
    a) file shield check on
    - write executable to disk
    - open (office) documents
    - execute scripts
    - attach USB stick (check all)
    b) behavioral shield

    Trusteer Rapport protecting browsers
    - protect browser process itself = allways
    - block unauthorised modules (DLL's) = allways

    Browsers
    a) Using IE8 for banking:
    - settings can't be changed by user or malware (added, clickjacking/zone elevation/cache protection/etc)
    - disabled download executables internet explorer
    - NextGenAntiKeylogger (*)
    b) Using Chrome for daily browsing
    - running incognito
    - extentions: adsweep, SiteAdvisor for Chrome
    - content: disabled third party cookies, all cookies from Google (also 'unchromed' Chrome ID), disablled gears and default plugin
    - sandbox: tabs and plug ins (--safe-plugins switch)

    On demand
    - Hitman Pro
    - MBAM

    (*)
I denied third party BHO's in IE through GPO, therefore I could not use Keyscrambler free anymore and replaced it with NextGen AntiKeylogger free

Yes standard user account same as limited user account. Very nice way to use comp. Ok?

  23. Hi Jmonge

When installing Firewall by it self, sandbox is by default disabled. Try it again, and enable the sandbox this time... then you will see the difference and won't be so pop up fatigued at all. :)

    Ok.

So if I use LUA with DEP/UAC ON, should I keep the stuff I have right now or it'd be overkill? Still, I think I won't know if when im infected, and since I've lots of money online.. it makes me feel unsafe. Therefore I think I should keep scanners at least...And what about keyloggers? Do they work on limited account? I have KeyScrambler Premium and I was about to purchase zemana antilogger...

From you setup I will keep Sandboxie and Keyscrambler (since the 2 is already paid, complement you setup and the 2 softwares is very light). Maintain you on-demand scanners too... just in case... for peace of mind... but with keyscrambler why you need zemana?
