    Hello all
I am using NOD32 AV and I am happy with it in all respects. I've had no problems, the tech support is good and I guess most
of all, I have had no virus issues.

A good friend, an IT professional who's opinion I respect, advised me to look into Clam AV. The attraction is the cost...it is free.

Sometimes free is too much to pay if it performs badly. So, would Clam AV make me as happy as NOD32? Any opinions would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    ZZ

IMO, there are much better options in the free AV category then ClamAV.

  3. Clamwin was utter rubbish last I checked.

ClamAV for UNIX servers and whatnot is another matter, from what I've heard it's pretty good (though not the best). But it's not available for Windows, and isn't the sort of antivirus that's used on a Windows desktop anyway - it's for filtering web traffic.

But they use the same engine & database??
Note: Clamwin is on-demand only. No realtime protection.
Check Shadowserver.org for their rating (IF you put credence in their methodoloogy).

Good for mailgates. OpenSource project, good detection (NOD32 is better).

You can use Clam AV-Immunet. It will run in real time and has the Immunet Protect cloud as well.

Thanks to all for your opinions.

It would take solid support of Clam AV to get me to leave NOD32. I think I will keep what I have. NOD32 is not free but most worthwhile products aren't.

    Regards to all,

    ZZ
