IE9 rules in new web standards test

IE8 seems te become more promising every month, seems like Microsoft finally are doing the standards perfectly well, also the speed will increase. The safety is already a great point (especially under Windows 7). Also the UI will probably be great, because Microsoft did a good job on the UI in their latest programs. Seems like IE9 will really be a great browser.

 

And who is surprised?
IE best in a test made by Microsoft.

As always, it's easy to spot those who didn't read the article before commenting.

 

I think that would be really nice to start a campaign saying something like this:

MS, you will not release IE9 compatible with XP? So, if we're going to use another HTML5 compatible browser on XP, why don't we use another OS (google) too?



(Sorry, but people should learn to say a big *NO* to *MANY* things today)

 

Yeah and whilst they're at it they should fully support Widnows 98 with IE9 and add GPU acceleration to 98 and XP. Right..?

 

Why don't they test it with the latest Firefox Minefield, Opera Alpha, and Chromium? That's the only way I'll even consider the results, it's unfair otherwise.

 

lol i was just thinking the same thing, theyre testing their newest version that hasnt even been released yet with versions of programs that have been out for ages now. only wayt this test can be legitimate is with all pre-release versions of each browser so each browser has its latest features.

 

-Most of them weren't available when MS did the testing
-People will complain that stable versions aren't being used
-People will shift the blame to "it's still just an alpha" when the other browsers fail.

Microsoft is making a comparison chat to show how their browser development is progressing in comparison to the *actual* browsers people are using right now. This isn't a "omg come use IE9 cause we're better" advertisement.

 

-They were available, just in earlier versions.
-There will always be complaints. IE 9 isn't a stable version.
-How do you know other browsers will fail?

Why not test previous versions of IE then? Surely people are actually using them right now.

 

Agreed with elapsed's comments. It's really good to know that MS is continuing to develop IE, having stopped for quite a while since IE7 was launched. I think MS felt the pressure from the other browsers, especially Chrome, FF and Opera.

IE8 is acceptable though not outstanding and IE9 is looking good so far.

 

The table results refer to a limited number of 192 test pages recently developed by Microsoft and W3C.

These 192 test pages don't fully test all the aspects of those W3C Web Standards noted - of course, several more tests are needed for that. Neowin definitely got it wrong when saying that IE 9 "is fully W3C Web Standards compliant so far".

IE adopting web standards is a good thing. soon enough maybe websites can be created properly to follow web standards and the websites should then work in all browsers.
