just noticed winpatrol is not actually running in "real-time" it would give the alert a number of seconds after the change to the system was done.

ive never really viewed winpatrol as a program to be used for prevention (for the most part, altho it does do registry protection now) but more as a notifier to give me fuller control of my system because winpatrol does provide a lot of useful information on the inner workings of ur system as well as many tools.

yes i know that but if you read winpatrol's page they make it sound like a superstart program but in fact is not,i dont want a Chiguagua i want a bulldog or even a pitbull:) ,i know what you mean to just be notified for me is not enough:thumbd:

no flames buddy but let's put it this way :D i got like 20 malware spywares, rootkits, trojans and fake antiviruses/rouges;) againts winpatrol plus and with most of the malware winpatrol didnt burk at all:thumbd: with some other malware it burks but didnt prevent any registry changes:thumbd:
now when it comes to rouges or fake antiviruses it will burk and stop from adding to the start up programs or and even the fake antivirus/rouges didnt start:thumb: this is my point of view

note:i tested the default registry protection, didnt add any new ones to it yet:)

tbh im pretty sure i only use winpatrol more to monitor changes that legit programs make like installing drivers/services and such than i do malware changes, ive never even payed any thought to using winpatrol against malware lmao.:D

This is an interesting post, since I thought I had WinPatrol on to alert me about malware as a "light HIPS". Sounds like it is more a way to keep track of what the system is doing. Guess I should look into Threatfire or Mamutu for the malware alerts?

Sandboxie and WinPatrol Plus are probably enough on their own. Emsisoft 5 is probably overkill for how I use the computer. Need a light AV.

NOTE: At this time, WinPatrol 18 does not support Windows 98/ME/2K and 64 bit versions of Windows. This is a temporary problem and not an indication of loss of support. We're currently working to address this problem and expect a new release soon.

As an owner of this program, I am angry and disappointed in you.

The old release can still be downloaded from FileHippo. Wonder why it's not on the main site though.

I'm also an owner of this program (though i must admit i haven't used it much) and am neither angry or disappointed with anyone especially not Hayc59 who kindly posted the link or with developer who is actively seeking a fix.I'm looking forward to the fixed updated version to try.
