Good Evening ! I'm currently using the three months remaining of my subscription from 2010 version. So far it seems to run lighter and scan quicker. I'm not sure regarding the firewall, but it seems to be a set it forget it feature. If anyone else has migrated to the 2011 version,i would appreciate your feedback. And as a footnote let's not touch G-Data customer service,I deal with Ultimate Internet Security the British Vendor. But it seems their Forum has been discontinued ! If not; does anyone know it it's resurfaced elsewhere ? Sincerely...Securon

I'm only using the A/V part of the suite. Their seems to be less of a slowdown with 2011 while surfing. I really like this A/V! I really hope I don't need support! So far so good after months of use.

I really like the new behavioural blocker.
There are no annoying alerts on typical os tasks.
Also the malware removal abilities are optimized.

It does a great job when running on an already infected system.

    Regards,
    Ford

Just like in version 2010 G-Data has a firewall that blocks most of my internet radio stations in the miniradio gadget for Windows. They are about the only one to do this, but it can't be solved any other way than by ending the web protection. Really miserable.

The firewall doesn't block your media streams - it's 'only' the Webprotection (scanning http port 80).
    I don't have these problems.
Which gadget do you use exactly?

It's called miniradio. And G-Data IS is the only one doing this. Try it out for yourself. If we can find a solution I can use a two years license again, which is now completely useless.

    Looking good, very light.
Only thing I don't understand is firewall and auto-pilot mode.
Is everything allowed in auto-pilot or will I ever receive alert ?
Anybody knows how it works ?
I see it has some pre-configured rules for few programs and windows services, but what it will do with unknowns ?

Not a great choice for dial-up users as the initial download size was between 150->270MB :p

Slowed my new laptop ( Core i7-720QM, 4GB RAM ) down considerably when the two engines were running in real-time; switched to the single Avast Engine B and now it runs as light as a feather. No slowdowns with the HTTP scanner but the on-demand scanner was slow but did speed up, over 50%, after the first scan. Very slick interface.

Pricing, IMHO, for both the AV and the Internet Suite are reasonable ($25-$30) but, as many people have reported before, adequate support maybe lacking for overseas customers.

In any case Veronica and sky radio. But there are more. I don't have gdata installed anymore, for that reason.

I was skeptical and fearful to upgrade to GDATA IS2011 since I had a large number of problems just getting my 3 user license to work and to upgrade and to....IS2010 was running like a top now. I did it though and I have not had any issues with the one computer I placed it on. Prevx works great along side it. I have not upgraded the other 2 yet (maybe tomorrow and I have my fingers crossed). I like it a lot. Scan times are long to begin with but they come down fast. I have not found any issues (yet) for my applications. The only thing that I don't like is when starting a streaming video, if it was under 2 MB the would be a scanning status bar that would pop up and show you the progress of the scan. In IS2011 it is not there. I don't know why but I liked it. Hopefully their customer service has improved like the program.

Good Evening ! Fasteddy 2020..I recollect seeing your name from Ultimate's Forum. Are you aware if the user forum exists any longer? It would provide some cohesiveness within the user community. Sincerely...Securon

If i were you, then i will definitely go with GData IS 2011...Reason? Pretty simple..Strong Behaviour Blocker, Top Notch Protection, and two strong engines...:)

Even i have tested it with some 0day infections, and i found GDATA IS 2011 pretty good against them.

I tested version 2010 in a snapshot and I experienced heavy browser lags and slowdowns with the web guard turned on. Some pages kept loading for some minutes. As soon as I was disabling the web guard, the page loaded instantly on the same tab.

Sometimes with no reason at all (no scanning scheduled nor nothing) cpu gets 50% usage on gdfwsvc.exe
I'm afraid uninstall is best option for this product.

Is it happening with GData IS 2011 or 2010 version? I have never faced this kindda of problem with GData IS 2011 on my Win Vista Ultimate Machine.

    Latest version , 2011.
I was using GData before and never had this problem (with 2010)
But to be fair, back then I was using only AV.
This time I decided to install whole suite, minus anti-spam and email protection.
It happened during idle, I've noticed HD is very active, there were no scheduled scans (disabled), cpu was running at 45-55% , in GUI I wasn't able to see anything out of order. No scans, nothing.
Nothing else was running, happened three times and I decided to remove it.
