Which is better, USB disk security or Autorun Eater?

Well, USB disk security is shareware and autorun eater is freeware. I'm wondering which of the two is better in terms of reliability and over-all performance. Thanks. I'll bookmark this page.

If you prefer Shareware I will surely suggest you to use USB Virus Scan. It is simply great. Among freewares you can also try ikill.

Don't forget USB Safely Remove. Among many other things it can do to help with your USB (or firewire/eSata) drives, it will give you a nicely implemented Autorun guard.

It will block all autoruns, plus:

"Autorun feature allows to automatically launch any application on the following operations performed with the device:
    • On device plugging
    • Before device stopping
    • After device stopping
    • On device removal
Program autorun feature allows to automatically launch any application on a hot-plug device plugging or before its stopping.

How you may use the program autorun ?

    - On device plugging:
    1. For running of your file manager with device drive contents
    2. For running of antivirus to check flash-drive contents
    3. For mounting of a TrueCrypt volume located on external drive
    - Before device stopping
    1. For backing up of a flash-drive data
    2. For dismounting of a TrueCrypt volume located on external drive
    - After device stopping
    1. For running a special program to clear traces of your visit
    - On device removal
    1. For locking of the computer
    2. For logging of the system

Autorun feature allows to setup program launching not only for a specific device but for all hot-plug devices visible by USB Safely Remove. Thus we can distinguish two kinds of autorun settings: so-called "Local" Autorun and "Global" Autorun.

Isn't it easier to just make a registry entry than use these apps?
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\Autorun.inf]
    @="@SYS:DoesNotExist"
