I am intermittently getting this pop-up alert when I open my NOD32:

    http://naut.homestead.com/files/nod32.jpg

When I click on the link it simply disappears. My "Protection Status" window shows no problem.

My NOD32 tray icon is green, is kept fully updated automatically, and on-demand scans are clean. Microsoft Updates are up-to-date. My system runs well, and all other AV/AS scanners indicate I'm clean also.

What gives? I've had all the software below for some time- this behavior is recent.

    Specs:
    - XP sp3
    - NOD32 4.2.40.0
    - Windows Defender
    - OutPost Firewall Pro 2009 (Resident Anti-Spyware disabled)

getting this too from time to time on WIN7 64bit, it is randomly though my end, cannot reproduce it on the spot. could be linked to NOD32 set to check for OS updates, if that case your end

Previously posted here ESET is investigating, awaiting a reply as this is distressing for many users as noted by this thread and others.

    Thanks for that, siljaline.

I should have searched further back in the forum, but only noticed this a few days ago. Glad to hear I'm not alone, and that it's just a bug.

You are most welcome, gaslad, it is a bit more than a bug. :ouch:

The Ghost flag pop-up needs to be investigated, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, since it applies to multiple operating systems in various configurations.

Nothing in Event Viewer Logs under applications to indicate the ghost flag, either.

I am also getting the "ghost flag" on my systems. When I first read this thread, I was unable to get it to happen again. Now, it's back!

Two boxes are Win XP and one is Win 7.

If it's not a bug, it sure is an irritation. I just got another.

It has now been 25 days since you first posted on this issue, with no official response from ESET.

    C'mon ESET, fix this nuisance.

give it a few more centuries to get it figured out, not that someone from Eset acknowledged looking into it, to start with

I'm quite sure ESET do not take issues like this lightly and are working to solve the problem.

I used to get this when i first updated to 4.2.40. I noticed that somewhere along the way I had unchecked the box under: User Interface->Alerts and Notifications->Display only notifications requiring user interaction. If i remember correctly, once i checked this box, those annoying pop-ups went away. It might have been another setting in the same screen, can't remember. In short, check your configs especially if you have been customizing them.

It is a method that is frowned on generally, I don't like to use it, it is called thread bumping. Since I declined an issue ticket on the matter, I hope this method does get ESET's attention.

While I appreciate your feedback, if you are not sure which setting it was that made the ghost flags go away, I would not prescribe that anyone adjust their settings from default, as these are most used, out of the box.

mate, do not get all serious on me, I was just kidding and thereby also bumping the thread up again, hoping that it would get to the attention of Eset, yet it seems to be in vain...

I'm getting similar alert when double clicking on the icon in the tray. I have email and http scanning disabled, but the NOD32 icon is green. This started to happen after upgrade to 4.2.40.

Also I have noticed that after a while (20-30 days) disk read/write graph doesn't update anymore and information about loaded modules in About window disappears. This can only be fixed rebooting the computer.

Yes, I know that. However I'm running antivirus on IMAP/POP server, so there is no need to scan it once again.

I've simply disabled POP3 port scanning and unticked Integration with various clients.
