I am trying to access some website that has been blocked, not an illegal website and not a legit block by government. (please do not ask me which country I am living, worse than China and recently bloodshed toward protesters in the capital).

I am currently using Hide-My-IP software. It does work but not well, has some buggy with browser. I have to refresh it many times to get access but most of the times I still had been blocked, even the IP show that I am in other country.I have tried with all browsers - Firefox / Opera / IE / Chrome / Safari and all of them have the same problem.

I have tried out free anonymous proxy server but I hate those pop-up ads and similar, annoying me too much.

    I am considering these solutions

    1. Better proxy software - I would prefer on desktop software and not a free proxy switcher software that use public proxy. It is not safety enough. Is there any better alternate ways for Hide-my-IP?

    2. VPS - I think this one may be the best but not sure. Is this one best? If yes, which one is best in its category? Is hidemyass.com good?

Please help :) Thanks you in advance.

AceVPN is one the cheapest VPNs I know of ($5/month).

I have used AceVPN in the past and for web browsing no problem at all, but if you need to watch TV online get another VPN with higher speed.

I've been using Xerobank for almost 3 years now. I believe it is one of best anonymity VPN's out there. If you need a very high level of anonymity i would use Xerobank.

Thank you for letting me know :)

I think the best solution for me is use TOR to just access anything except personal information like online banking, personal / business email / specific private accounts. It could be the best and safest solution for now. I was thinking about strongvpn.com but had to fed out since they are not clear for what they would do with the log files.

You gotta trust somebody. It's commonly said that Tor has been designed to obviate that requirement. However, some say that it's vulnerable to evil participants. This is an old argument on Wilders. In any case, Tor is quite slow.

I use XeroBank. The pros and cons of XeroBank vs other VPN services (and Tor) have been chewed to death here. I'm not gonna get into it again.

FWIW, here's my current solution ...

This is correct! Most definitely use Xerobank https://xerobank.com/ or at least Cryptohippie!! https://secure.cryptohippie.com/

You can install Xerobank on a USB stick and carry it with you to use on other computers And you can share your account. Other people can install it and use it too. You just have a certain amount of bandwidth per month, but it is very large. I think it is 75 G's. And for storing personal documents, you could zip them and upload them to your Xerobank email account. You can put your Xeromail on a USB stick too. It will be stored on their encrypted servers. Plus, you could actually put all of this (your VPN and email) in a truecrypt folder on your USB stick so no one could ever even see it. You could disguise it by putting it in the middle of a bunch of pictures and various documents like this:

I would recommend that you download the free version of Returnil. http://www.returnilvirtualsystem.com/ It creates a virtual copy of your operating system and when you restart it is returned to it's previous state. No records of anything will be left behind. There is an option to erase the disk changes upon restart. Make sure that is checked.

Peace and best wishes for you!

OP, use TOR. It was specifically designed for people like you (people in repressive countries like China). Sure it is a bit slower than a private VPN, but it offers better security and is free. If web-browsing and chat is what you're after, it's your best bet.

On the other hand, if you want something to run torrents on, you are better off to buy a private VPN service, as Tor strongly discourages torrent use since it cannot, due to its design, properly anonymize torrent traffic.

    That I knew.
That I didn't. Do you have a cite for that? Or I can google it.

    Edit: I did ... https://blog.torproject.org/blog/bittorrent-over-tor-isnt-good-idea

@snowdrift: Insulting a democratic EU country like this, indicates lack of culture and knowledge of facts. It is a trend lately but it's often advisable everyone to check first the facts of its own country.

Specially when you don't take back the insult when it becomes obvious that Sxperm was talking about another country, since he does not recognize the language characters of the country you (snowdrift) indicated.

Sxperm is talking about Thailand. He mentioned an oppressive government that shoots protesters in the streets of the capitol. Watched the news lately? That's been happening in Thailand.

I was talking about snowdrift's posts, read the thread again before using unfortunate phrases: "watched the news lately?".
