What I cant figure out is if anti-virus is a dead/doomed tech,(And I have not used real time for a year or more save this sojourn with Prevx) why are so many head butting their way into the field?

It feels more "wide open" than "dead"

According to this website http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm there are an estimated 1.8 billion users around the world. It's a huge market and even a tiny fraction of that could mean quite a bit of money.

It uses Norman Engine Sandbox which is more like a heuristic component than a full virtualization tool like Sandboxie.

I have only read very little of the website but noticed this:

"Coranti 2010 has four scan engines working in parallel and therefore, offers four times the
protection. However, it also means, that should
you already be running security software, there
is no need to uninstall it until you’re completely satisfied with Coranti‘s performance."

That's not something you should recommend, is it?

Gotta' say I agree. Mem usage is huge. This is just while running...no scan, no update, no nothing.

During a scan, it shot up a bunch more. Way too heavy.

I will say though it did pretty well in my tests of 20 malware links. Stopped all but one.

Japanese AV Didn't expect that :D

Well BitDefender is one of the better AV's to have included, always were good with trojans. As it's only a Beta, i've seen a lot worse recent tests from long established products. So if they can improve on the high overhead etc, then it might be one to watch.

They were 0 day, yes. Taken from various sites I have that post malware each day. These were all links posted yesterday when I did the test.

And you doubt TheIgster? For shame...

;) Well, posted that day, so they seemed to be effective samples that were reported as malware and found by many other AV's out there so... :p

What's going on with this product? o_O

It seems NuWave software is still operational at the Kiev address:

    http://www.nuwavesoft.com/

Now Coranti's site gives the impression that the company has no relation with NuWave. However, a whois lookup reveals this:

Interesting, isn't it? My guess is that these two companies may be sister companies rather than one and the same. :)

I just checked the latest VB RAP results from June and Coranti is way up now.
It's 4'th Best, beating Avira, Eset etc... to name a few.
    http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/rap-index.xml

So i'm just curious if anyone have tested Coranti lately?
