    I have been using HIPS since 1999. Was one of the first users of System Safety Monitor. Have also use ProSecurity, D+, EQSecure, SafeNSecure, etc. I can tell you that ALL of those HIPS are equally or more powerful than MD, & user friendly as well.

    I believe that business ethics and loyalty to paying customers is also a significant measure of value. On this measure, MD fails.

    As far as I am concerned 360 is a clone of IOBits360 outfit -- from the same area & with the same lack of ethics.

    No no no. He's working for 360Safe. It is a completely different company to IOBit.

    I must have tried them all, or close to, but SSM is still fine and dandy here, and it probably will forever.:)

    its funny see you discussing about xiaolin job interests - but you complete
    deny symantec (and others) bought so many other knowledge
    (corel bought jasc, adobe macromedia, aso.)
    so - who cares?
    you got nuts cause you bought some licenses and now its free or
    you feel upset that some software does not fit your needs any longer?
    thats the way of life - some change some time somehow.
    i dont tell you how many licenses i have dropped - you would cry rivers.

    The only one of these I tend to agree about is D+. I wouldn't consider the rest to be equally good or better than Malware Defender. I wouldn't call them user friendly either. They might be more shiny and colorful but not really user friendly. Classical HIPS programs are not user friendly by concept.

    Only if we add Comodo to the same group - a company with no ethics or respect towards its customers.

    Frankly, I see no basis for either claim you have made. What I see is a tantrum. You bought licenses that are now useless so you bash the product because you feel disappointed and cheated. Your attitude reminds me of The Fox and the Grapes.

    I have no problem with that!!,
    As a matter of fact I could not have defined them better!!

    D+ is user friendly? ProcessGuard,Ancient of Days,is more user friendly,and at least
    remembers users decisions.

    Can I add my Sheesh?

    I'm not crying any rivers, no need to worry, nor am I upset. I was simply asking because my first impression was Iobit took him in, or he went to them. That is all...and believe me, life hasn't made me nuts, nor has a woman, why would a simple program?

    You read me wrongly. I didn't say MD wasn't powerful. I just wanted to make the point that it was by no means the only fish in the ocean, nor even the *first among equals*. Here again is what I wrote...

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    My favorite of all of the HIPS I have used down through the years is SSM. I was using SSM since 9 years ago, pretty much from SSM's inception, when it took nearly 3 hours to download it from Max Kormushkin's site at narod dot ru (I was on dial-up back then).
    Max was SSM's genius-progenitor. By the time Vasily (the final owner of SSM) decided to put SSM out to pasture, it had attained the status of being a prototype for every desktop HIPS developed since then, in the same sense that Wozniak's first production-grade Apple was a protoype for all the subsequent desktop computers.
    MD was indeed a worthy successor to SSM but (IMO) had not yet attained the same level of excellence for its era as was attained by SSM for ITS era. MD was, however, well on its way to equalling or passing SSM's mark. Its proponent was advancing MD by leaps & bounds when, POOF! he suddenly decides he needs to make a living and sells it.
    Over time I have acquired several *grossly devalued* licenses -- licenses that I paid for that turned into freebies or went moribund or belly-up -- such as Puran, SSM, Prosecurity, DS anti-trojan, GesWall, MD, etc. Not to mention licenses that I paid full price for, & just a few days later they went on sale for pennies on the dollar.
    So chalk it up to experience & move on, right? Yes, I agree -- EXCEPT that in the case of MD, several of my online friends repeatedly advised me to steer clear of buying another "lifetime license." But I ignored them (to my sorrow), & now they are giggling behind my back (in a manner of speaking). However, those jibes aren't the main reason I am disappointed about MD. From an old movie script here is an analog to my *reason* ---
    MD coulda been a contender. (I now doubt that it ever will be, but sincerely hope that future events prove me to be wrong.)
    I have no regrets in buying the MD Licence. Have enjoyed using it over the last year and its not like the cost was very high, and if this new 2.7 version isn't fixed and working properly or if the Progress in fixing the 2.7 errors is going to be slow which I have a feeling it will be seen how xiaolin isn't devoting his full attention to it any more I still have the option of using my Registered 2.6 version which is what I am doing now still using the 2.6.
    Sorry for off topic but what ethics problem does 360 have? o_O
    I don't use 360safe's product personally but I recommend it to all my novice friends on computer. Their intelligent HIPS is fairly strong.
    If you mean they have problems with Rising,I'd stand with 360safe cause Rising is the one that has issues with almost all of his competitors. :rolleyes:
    Problem I E-Mailed to Xiaolin - Having a recurring problem with the new version (2.7.0). If I open the Autostarts tab I keep getting a message that it cannot scan the registry. Once I put in learning mode and rebooted and that worked. Lately that does not work. I have no such problem with 2.6.0 which I reinstalled.
    and response
    "Hello, The new Malware Defender is not released officially yet, it will be announced soon. The version 2.7.0 is leaked by testers. The bug will be fixed in next release.
    Thanks,
    Xiaolin"
    ... and the changes are? I personally don't see a reason to upgrade unless it's automatic without knowing the changes, and especially not when it's a beta.
