Hopefully this fixes the issues I've been having with Avast (free), Skype, and my connection to my router. When I'm using skype for a call, my connection will drop entirely, and I have to reboot my router. I'm blaming this on Avast because it never happened with NOD32, MSE or Avira. Same setup otherwise.

Well, I already had a similar debate on NOD32 forum. If you router crashes, it's the router that's broken. Not Avast. Avast may make the symptoms worse since it could be causing more payload on the router, however - the router/firmware thereof sucks.

See manufacturer's site for firmware upgrades, there are also opensource alternatives for certain routers (DD-WRT, OpenWRT, Tomato, etc.)

well as well as their network shield has protected me, I dont care. It has stopped or caught more stuff then any other shield.;)

As it is, the behaviour guard is mainly aimed at rootkits. For rootkits, there's a very little space on 64bit Windows. So... wait until it grows more features I'd say ;)

Trjam, what O/S and which Avast?

I dumped licensed Avira Antivir Premium 10 for now - too many issues, and I'm trying NAV 2010. I loved Avira 9's detection. Not sure how good NAV's web shield is (if it even really has one). Avast is next.

Good point-I have about 50 days now on my old Linksys WRT54G using Tomato, and realized the only reason it isn't a few hundred is because we have had a few local power failures and it isn't on UPS. Longer than that since I have had an Avast! crash. Tomato even supports passthrough to my DSL modem (via a little Linux script) so I can control that too with no crashes. And Avast! in the various builds likes that all fine.
