Windows install CD/DVD. Almost always faster and definitely always a safer option.

A tip if dealing with exe killing rogues.

Have a copy of Task Manager (taskmgr.exe) from system32 and rename it to opera.exe or firefox.exe and it should run as most exe killing rogues need to allow your browser to work in order to access their rip off payment page.

Because many many times you end up volunteering yourself for next week or two or three....
They forgot to tell you about some camera they have, you go on a driver hunt, they lost their install disks. They forgot to tell you about some scanner. They forgot to tell you that they used Thunderbird for e-mail and you didn't instinctively back that up. They can't find their install of MS Office...because a friend lent the CD to them. Their PC came with XP home, but along the way they upgraded to XP Pro..and they can't find the CD they used for that (because they borrowed that from work) The lost their Quickbooks license and/or CD.

Office PCs..yeah usually data is kept on a server, all software and licensing is available. But home PCs.... years and years of doing this, wiping and reinstalling usually ends up sucking waaaaay too much of your time up.

With the tools available today, cleaning malware/rogues is quite easy and thorough.
