trust me, Jerry loves it.

 

So far I like it fine. If it continues to do so well I'll buy it when the trial is up.

I do wonder about adding Prevx and/or not installing the firewall but instead use OA free. Probably all I need is the suite, and the additional applications shown by my sig.

What would be your recommendations, Jeff?
It must be great as you are still using it.

I will be interested in learning how it fares in the upcoming AV Comparatives test.

Prevx is a great product and compliments all AV products. My advice is for you to see how it fits in your arsenal. Aviras suite for me is doing great.

It has always tested great. I know they have dipped a tad in some tests, as all do, but I dont worry about it because I know the people behind the scenes and they are always striving for excellence. As I say, and AV ranked in the top tier of AV-C is very good and all should remember that.

 

Thanks, Jeff. I prefer to use the fewest applications I think are necessary for my own assessment of my security needs. It is really easy to go with all the great applications folks tout.
With my own habits I suspect the applications in my sig will do as well as anything.

I wanted to purchase Avira last night, i added the Premium version and to my surprise they were forcing me to pay for some charity.


I hated this and i closed my browser.

 

I guess each can decide how much he is willing to pay. I think the price of Avira is reasonable. I don't mind how the price is distributed. That of course has some reservations, but I fail to see how VAT is an evil thing overall.

However, there are good reasons to go for one of the freebies which has a top rating overall on several AVC tests.

PS I still like the suite. So far I like it enough to pay for it, although I am still looking at anything that might be an advantage, such as the fact that I still have over 2 years left on KISS.

I try to stay clear of freebies for my AV choice. I already have NOD32 full version but after the update to 4.2, it was causing problems on my pc. So had to uninstall it. I wanted to buy avira, but the FORCED donation sent me packing.

 

Forced donation, I have heard that so many times here that it is still funny. I wonder how much of the set price of just a product, any product, goes entirely for the product. Yeah I spend 68 bucks on Product A and all 68 goes into making the product.

Yeah right. How bout x amount goes to some political campaign, x amount goes for some old gambling debt, x amount goes for the motel room with my secretary.

I am just saying, you really dont know where your payment goes. At least Avira is showing you where a small portion goes. People are so cynical these days.

 

I really dont care where the payment goes after its made, thats not something in my control and none of my concern.

But to FORCE someone to pay for a donation to some org. That is not acceptable.

The question is not where the money is going, but why are they Forcing the customers to donate ?

Another assumption, i did not say that Avira was a bad AV, the reason i want to purchase is that its good.

 

Did you read the scenario you posted earlier, of what they do with the money.

 

I know them, I know what they do with my money, and I am even made myself familiar with the foundation themselves. I applaud the effort they put forth working with kids. Maybe if you got out of the sun and read just what the foundation is about, you might have a different viewpoint.

Anyway, if you dont like it, dont buy it. You have that right.

 

Again, it is not about the foundation per say.

It is the Forceful Donation aspect during the Checkout, why cant they make it Optional. If someone wants to donate, they can, if someone does not, then they dont.

At least give the customers an option to choose to donate or not.

I am not dissing Avira, I really wanted to purchase it last night but the forceful donation got in the way.

 

I do understand, but that is the way they have always been setup. I mean they could just charge you full price and not say anything about the foundation and then put some of it towards it anyway. At least this way they are being up front about where your money is going. It is just the way it is and doesnt take away from how good the product is.

I do understand but think as most, it isnt a issue. Focus on what you are buying.
