What bug is that? Is it the one that has been discussed above your post, about the BSOD?
I'm asking because I cannot use version 2.6.0 long term as I don't own a license for it. And if it's a more specific bug which I don't seem to be experiencing and version 2.7.0 has been running fine so far, maybe I can continue using it.

hmm, bug - when no changes?
i had a rare heavy BSOD with win7 but i havent installed all updates for now,
so it may crash here again next restart (with updates). But i have mad so
many changes yesterday for testing purpose...

PS if subset is reading this - update the version info of your lang file to 2.7.0.0
and all is fine - there no changes in the strings except the unnecessary
    evaluation strings/dialogs (can be deleted).

    # all fine with backups, win7 32bit

The 2.7.0 driver has some bugs. The BSODs I reported are a symptom. Another symptom is a NTFS parsing failure which results in \system32 appearing to be empty.

Then must be a special XP failure.

i think it would be nice if MD would scan your computer and build a database of all ur files so it would make it less chatty and only prompt for new/changed file.

I think that's an excellent idea. :) I'd definitely vote for that. For example, if I run MSN, I can contact my friends, get the ads that are built in, but I can't make a connection to a unknown webpage (e.g. new malware which is connecting) - that would produce a prompt.

I think you get the idea. ;)

Strange. I haven't experienced any bugs so far, and I'm using Windows XP. Granted, it hasn't been a long run but this applies to everyone anyway.

Yes it's free. I suppose the new owners of MD know what it's truly worth. Nothing!

Over the past few years I have now bought & paid for 2 HIPS lifetime licenses from that part of the world -- 1 for ProSecurity; the other for Malware Defender -- both of them were $$$ down the toilet.

It reminds me of the time I bought a suit with 2 matching pairs of pants, & then I burned a hole in the coat. :doubt: :'( :(

Thanks Nick for your reviews and testing, I Must admit your technical knowledge is better than mine in some regards, I hope you will still stay around here.

No I disagree with that request. don't want to complicate things and start adding Unnecessary features and in turn making it a high resource Blot ware, and I don't want MD turned into a Nanny babysitting security app. Lets keep it the way it is. Anyway you can configure it to Silently block Creation and Modification of existing files.

The only reason why its not worth much is because the average pc user doesn't know how to use it properly hence it has a very small market. It has a high value to us small group of technical users. That said I don't know what 360 is getting out of buying MD, Maybe they are going to gain from xiaolin's expertees in helping them with their other products.

This is why I don't use things like web site checking apps. Very restrictive with to many false positives.

I 100% agree with arran. MD leaves the decisions to the user and it is much better for me not to go the the kaspersky HIPS way, which evolved from the tools of the power user (at around 2007) to a strange mix of kaspersky lab database and inheritance tree.

So what you're saying is Kaspersky is letting through things that are unknown to it? o_O

No, kaspersky is powerful, it just makes most decisions by itself and personally I do not like the inheritance in the application filtering.

With MD I have full control of whats happening in my PC.

I see... I think like this: as long as something is safe with no doubt, it should pass, I don't need to make that kind of decision, it's only annoying even.

Another vote to leave MD as is in this regard. There's plenty of other software available if you want your HIPS to make all or most of the decisions for you.
