... yet people have reported so many false positives in blocking sites with Emsisoft. Isn't that hpHOSTS being the culprit or is it their own engine then?

None of these so called ipblocker would ever be 100% accurate for they base their blocking via IP ranges w/c would surely block even the legitimate ones.

Actually no, I don't ;). hpHosts doesn't incorporate any other providers lists (though Anthony at MalwareURL, does submit sites he adds to his database, to hpHosts). Submissions do however, come from various sources (still verified by me), along of course, with those I come across myself.

If you come across a site being blocked that you feel shouldn't be, either drop me an e-mail (services@it-mate.co.uk) or stop by the forums (here), and I'll look into it :)

So very true. There's no such thing as a perfect solution, and never could be.

    Actually no, I don't.

Oh, I thought I read that somewhere, on the hpHosts site, IIRC. But I am just a noob. Sorry for the incorrect information. Ive done that twice yesterday.

The only porn sites blocked, are those involved in malicious activity such as malware/exploits/hijacks etc.

As I said, if you contact me regarding a site you feel is listed in error, I'll take a look.

I don't do mind reading, so unless you tell me the sites affected, there's nothing I can do.
