Keep the ones needed by your installed programs, sadly .Net is a royal mess, different programs need different versions, there is no backward compatibility unfortunately.

    .
It's definitely a mess, but good luck trying to figure out which apps need which versions and what dependencies exist between versions. It's probably best to leave the mess alone unless there's some compelling reason to do otherwise :)

I have 3.5 and it has 2.0 & 3.0 in its folder but in the control panel add/remove programs it only shows 3.5. If 2.0 & 3.0 show in the control panel as separate programs they're probably unnecessary aren't they if you already have 3.5?

You might go to folder C:>Windows>Microsoft.NET. See if there's only the "Framework" folder with everything inside of it or if there are individual folders for versions 2.0, 3.0 & 3.5. If each version has it's own individual folder I would think you could uninstall the extras from the control panel. But I'm not a professional tech, just something you might look into, or someone here might have more info.

I would strongly discourage you from uninstalling any .NET version that's already installed. You are just asking for big trouble. Other versions breaking, service packs and hotfixes for .NET failing to apply etc. etc. etc. Have experienced this on way too many machines. If you have already installed redundant stuff, just leave it there. It's just wasting disk space, that's it.

So far, I've been lucky enough to be able to avoid .NET ... haven't run into anything yet that needs it. Just one exception, my daughter's Blackberry smart-phone died recently and because of inventory they replaced it with a much later version, and it turned out the installer for the desktop manager for that does want .NET. So I just told her now she'll have to find someone else if (as has happened a few times) its OS needs purged and re-installed.
