Presumably we will find out if we buy a licence :D . I am hoping we will know soon - perhaps the new partner had been signed up and they need to upgrade the front page, but they are bickering about the order :D .

I'm also a bit concerned about that
Are they trying to hide something? :doubt:

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

Come on fellas ;) , Erik's job isn't to post on this forum all day, as hitman pro development would grind to a halt.

His job is to develop the program. He mentioned a short while ago Hitman Pro was undergoing development and change, so that's what it is.

No hiding, no secrecy. If I had to assume anything, it'd be the removal of Avira would mean it is 'contract renewal time', and vendors are deciding to continue or not, and other vendors are wanting to participate. Erik mentions this a week or so ago, discussions with new vendors are taking place.

That being said, it's either 'a glitch' and the vendors are left off, or any promotion of the vendors would cease while new arrangements are made. The product's capabilities wouldn't cease right away, I assume there would be a time-frame where the products can still be used while the new vendor details are sorted.

No disrespect to anyone here, another forum I visit is closing in on 400K members, and hitman pro is recommended. No questions about it, people just use it (Hitman Pro), whichever version is available, and wait for the new release (probably don't even know a new release comes out so often).

Not saying people can't ask questions, but I personally wouldn't overreact or think too much about something which has a logical explanation.

Hey I have FOUR 3 year Licenses I think we should be told! I always support great tools I always buy if you don't have to like SAS, MBAM & WinPatrol Plus for $0.99 :D

    TH

EDIT: As far as I can see nothing has change as in venders but no new one either! Also as they said if it's an old detection that Avira will still be there in the database!

    Partner Vendor Icons

I noticed some discussion about the absence of the partner/vendor icons in the welcome dialog of Hitman Pro 3.5.5.

To clear things up I just want to say that management decided to remove the small icons in favor for a new and bigger partner/vendor display in Hitman Pro.

This as the small icons were quite unnoticeable for the average user and we want to increase revenue for our partners through the new display.

This display wasn't finished in time to be included in 3.5.5 but the small icons were already removed from the welcome dialog :ouch:

There are no new partners yet where I can comment on. Every partner that was there in 3.5.4 is still in 3.5.5.

    I hope this helps.

Erik - Thanks for the explanation, but why not show them when the program opens. It is your biggest selling point.

+1. I noticed the small, partner icons but look for such things. The partner icons need to be present- I believe 100%. People that may not have heard of your product may have heard of or used one of the partners and that would add some credibility to your scanner. Especially these days with so many people afraid to download any type of anti-malware product they have not heard of before.

One might think that the icons add credibility, but not too long ago a rogue AV was using the Avira umbrella. Remember that?

Noticed that my language is missing, interested in translators?

(Oh, and while writing here, LnS firewall is detected as a threat on XP SP3 by the EWS scan, fix0r please ;) ).

We are always interested in translations. I will PM you on this one.

Is the LnS firewall detected as a threat or as suspicious (which isn't a threat classification). Could you post a screenshot?

A tip on EWS: It should only be used as a last resort in case where you don't have a network connection or when you suspect malicious activity and the normal scan didn't find anything.

I can translate to Swedish if you would like me to - I'm very analytic as a person and grammar is honestly very easy for me. :)

Yeah, Notepad++ highly recommended for similar purposes on Windows, excellent syntax highlighting, encoding/codepage/linebreak options and tons of other features.

(BTW, Czech translation sent back, so hopefully people will be able to enjoy it on next build.)
