Norton Internet Security 2010

Are there any papers on Norton Internet Security 2010 showing testing against drive-by downloads and 0days threats? Norton isn't something which I have tested but I am keen to know where it stands.

 

You can always check the av-comparatives and have a look on the results

You can even browse youtube and see the reviews on AV being tested against zero-day threats

Better suggestion try for yourself and see if it suits you

You could also ask the NSA/CIA/FBI as they have all colluded with Norton and rigged the company's signature files from deleting their spyware.

Seems pretty convincing to me I have no idea whether Norton supplies a back door or not. Seems kinda silly, I would think that if the government wanted to go to the trouble of installing backdoors on peoples systems, hardware would be the way to go.

 

Who told you that? Evidence please.

Your links were much better than mine. The slashdot link was a 2007 article that referenced, at least in part a CNET atricle found here: http://news.cnet.com/Will-security-firms-detect-police-spyware/2100-7348_3-6197020.html

In this article CNET asked a bunch of security companies if their products detected police spyware. Symantec said theirs would. They could be lying I suppose.

lol. the magic lantern keylogger has long since ended. they stopped trying to spread it around once the word of it became widespread. they can now just harass google and similar sites to ask for sites a paticular persons browsing patterns and take advantage of backdoors in windows.

On topic: Norton 2010 has one of the strongest behaviour scanners out there and file insight is really great at blocking new threats. as many sites have shown Norton is one of the best out there for preventing malware from installing.

I remember watching a video a few days ago where there was a malware research team (I think it was a university) testing Man-in-the-Browser attacks. They got a knock from the FBI because Norton reported their application development. Norton obviously didn't know the research was being carried out legitimately with IRB approval. It raises privacy concerns for most people.

I always expect derogatory comments from the Norton haters, but in spite of that Norton is always a top tier application. I have not used it in about 10 years or so, but it is as good as the best and better than the rest.

... and you know why? Cause they changed their philosophy from walk alone to listen to its customers. We might not have the same insight, but we sure have lots of ideas and knowledge to give back.
