    Hi,

I have a problem with ESS 4.2.40.10 and Thunderbird 3.0.3 with IMAP at googlemail.

Everytime I open an email of my IMAP account within thunderbird, ESS adds a signature (Email was tested with ESS.....). So that's ok.

The problem is that in googlemail a new email with same content with only additional signature will be created in folder "All messages" with current date and time. So the amount of emails is growing up.

Is this problem made by Google or ESS ?

Did you enable adding signatures to all scanned email? As of v. 4.2, signatures are added only to infected emails by default.

    I updated from 4.0.474.

In 4.0.474 I had enabled this option. Does 4.2 disable this option when it was activated before ?

Maybe the cause of the problem is the activated option. I will check this tonight.

    Thanks for answer.

What do you have specified in server name (account settings > server settings > server name)?

have you there imap.googlemail.com or imap.gmail.com?

I don't know if gmail servers handle communication differently but I know that ess extension has embedded gmail detection because of issues you have described. It worked fine with tb2. I compared configuration of my gmail account in tb2 and tb3 and I noticed difference in this entry.

Could you try to change it to examine if it help?
Let me know if it helped.

    That was the reason.

I changed option to "Add comment only to infected files".

    @ESTBIRD:

Since Marcos suggestion solved the problem I haven't tested your advice.

    Thanks for your help.

4.2.10 was released in other languages. The only difference is localization.
