Hmmm... this one looks promissing. And very light even on old HW as well. Testing it on 2 boxes ATM, one w/ Avira free and the other w/ NOD32, no conflicts so far and practically didn't notice it's running in the background.

Just use A2CMD.EXE /U and put it in the autorun folder of all users or make it a scheduled task

The easiest way i sto create a shortcut and run it minimal. Although the A2free update from the GUI does not show these command line updates, it seems to work (and is mentioned in A2 forums also as a common known trick)

Kinda fun those tricks with autoupdate. With MBAM only the Pro version has the automatic/scheduled update function. When my computer was send back to the manufacturer for repairs, it took a really long time so in the meanwhile I installed my pro license on the computer I was then using, after I got my own back I uninstalled MBAM Pro from the other computer and used their cleanup tool so I could use my license on my own computer again, but when I installed the free version again on the other computer it suddenly started doing the scheduled scans and updates, after some searching I found out that they used the taskschuduler to schedule them, so anyone using the free version can do it too :p

Edit: I don't know if this also works with new v1.45 as they changed the scheduler inside the MBAM GUI a lot.

Well... Am I the only one here, or... I tried to install IE 8.0 MUI on one computer; it turned out to be extremely slow, made me scratch my head quite a bit until I recalled I've installed the Immunet thing there recently. It appears like it was sending about every file in the install to the cloud, making the install process snail-paced at best. The installer itself is 30+ megs, so you can imagine. Thought this uses some hashes to check first instead of uploading the entire thing - plus this MS stuff should pretty much be whitelisted by now? Had to disable the resident protection momentarily since I didn't have the patience to watch the thing to crawl like this.

That's easy -- extremely negative & insulting posts are what is "not required & useless" in this forum.

Quite a lot, this might give an idea:
Also, this is from Immunet, what ClamAV is going to do is their choice, maybe they'll still stay the same in 2.0, but eventually they are going their own way.

so i guess they want to make money now on the product by making a pro version?

    who would pay for it?

Lets wait to the tests and see how good can be and maybe the people will pay for it. Anyway their best trick is that Immunet can work along side any other AV, if the pro version can't maybe will be a problem

I can't find the original post anymore, but I read somewhere that the paid version is going to be a fullfledged AV product, and the free version stays a complementary product.

The first thought that comes to mind would be the type of person who presently pays for Prevx and uses it in conjunction with another more traditional anti-virus product. I would then think there are other groups who would consider paying for the commercial version depending on capabilities and test results.

Do we have a detection test for this yet? Id like to install it on my wifes netbook. It currently has Panda Cloud AV, but the configuration is so dull and lacking that I dont like it very much.

The free version (the only one out at the moment) seems to be really best suited to run alongside another AV. The Immunet Protect & ClamAV products that should be out very soon may be better suited to standalone. No test exist at the moment to my knowledge. It is very light though.

Because we have another current, ongoing thread Immunet Protect- Free cloud based AV that was started back on August 19th, 2009, in order to keep all the discussions in one place, we'll close this one. Thanks!
