you can disable windows firewall if you like ... your router firewall and defensewall v3 is more than enough I think.

You know, there's ALOT of people saying there are problems with Comodo Time Machine. Myself I used it and had "0" problems but was afraid it would possibly come back to haunt me with all the problems people are reporting.

To me and many other's,I think it's time you Comodo developers pull the plug on Comodo Time Machine and sit down and sort out the issues because many people are having their PC's trashed to the point of reformatting or worse circumstances.

    My 02 cents.

because I think I found out what "heavy" meant. It wasnt heavy, but it was "heavier" as time went on. Slow down.

So come on, get on the Kaspersky band wagon with me as there are only 3 AV products that actually work. And I am now on my second.

    KIS 2010 is solid protection.
Beta testing for KIS 2011 is due to start very soon (sooner than they've ever started) as well.

Got rid of Comodo Time Machine. When there where issues I had a feeling ctm made it worse or was even the cause. Issues that weren't there before ctm. Don't have the time or feel the need to investigate further. Back to only imaging.

I prefer an imaging software to a "go back to a time" type software (I've tried a few and they always (sooner or later) mangle the drive.)
I save it out of the machine on a seperate hardrive.
I admit that it does not seem quite as "handy" my way but at least you don't lose everything and have a sudden twist of the gut and "blood draining from the face" experience
My way, you have a safe backup, out of the machine, do it fairly regularly then you don't lose much if you need to use it. This is also good when your original drive physically dies.
I use Acronis Migrate Easy for this job. I use version 6 because I still use Windows 2000, I think 7 is for xp upwards.

I use only Sandbox and eventually SRP. Think it's enough. May skip SRP, but since it doesn't use any extra resources and prob indeed increase my protection I don't mind too much. :) Works VERY light of course. Only new software is sandboxed - that's the only time I could get a performance hit. I use ProcMon (Process Monitor) to watch what takes my resources, especially on the hard drive. A thousand thumbs up to Mrizos for showing this software. It's golden. ;)

On-demand scans of files can also be carried out if I feel like I want to.

I really like FREE or a Lifetime License. Been using the following for 4 months on windows XP Pro and all these programs seem to play together nice.

This also seems to be real fast on my system.

I was having update problems with Microsoft Security Essentials but when i found out about the registry tweak to change "SignatureUpdateInterval" from 24 hours to 1 hour ...I always get the latest definitions now. :D

    ALL Realtime:

    Sandboxie (Lifetime License)
MSE with "SignatureUpdateInterval" set to 1 hour (FREE)
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Lifetime License)
    Secunia PSI (FREE)
    WinPatrol PLUS (Lifetime License)
HostsMan with MVPS + HpHosts (FREE)
Netgear Router with "OpenDNS integration" (OpenDNS is FREE)

I am starting to become worried about the quality of software being produced. I think for now I will stick with what works.

I'm thinking of changing out Avira 10 for Microsoft Security Essentials. What does everybody think? Bad move or will MSE be OK? I have Prevx, Malwarebytes and WinPatrol all running real time.

Just seemed the Avira 10 was slowing down my system, unlike 9. Wanted to get some opinions on that move from Avira to MSE.

Cherub I think MSE is great.
Just be sure to change the SignatureUpdateInterval.

Do a search in regedit for SignatureUpdateInterval and change the 24 to a 1. No update problems now. I always have current definitions. Can see the latest defs here: http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Definitions/ADL.aspx

    or it's found under: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Signature Updates.

I'd stick with KIS, 2011 isn't too far off and it's rumored to have some improvements that even PURE doesn't have.

Removed Avira (no guard) on demand, installed Avast! 5 (file and behavior shield's only.) real time.

@kjdemuth: I don't know if this is your first time with No-Script,but can you come back and tell us in a few days, how you are getting along with it?

I never lasted more than a few days with it...

    respect,rat

No I've tried it before and yeah I know what you're talking about. It got kinda annoying when it blocked EVERYTHING. My OA isn't updating with this damn Time Freeze.

    Windows 7 32 bit:

Using standard accounts with UAC on high.
    DEP on all programs
    Behind firewall and router
    Firefox
    MSE
Several standard user accounts for different tasks (strategy).

    Two new additions: FD-ISR,
Family Safety Program (set to allow certain sites only)
