Using pirated security software...humm keys gets easily blacklisted and without updates.. these softwares are useless unlike OS or some other SW
Yeah, but most people pirate games Other softwares such as AV's or other software people don't care they just grab one they just found and works or use an outdated one
Depends on where you are, in countries outside US, east Europe, Asia, India, China, Africa, over 70%, most new PCs sold by assemblers have pirated OS, office and even AV. Even in US, the numbers are surprsing for home users, many resort to pirated copies of MS Office and Adobe PS, the irony is they are unwilling to pay the price for these apps but OTOH, there is excellent, equally viable free open source alternatives to these in case they are willing to look around. For programs like Adobe PS, every aspiring amateur phtographer has to get it as its the in thing to do to look like a pro even though majority of them will never ever use 60% of its features, same goes for Office suites.
I would say that 50% of people under thirty use pirated security, especially on college campuses. With the good freeware out there must be other factors besides price. There is the 'rebel' factor which elevates a persons status and reputation as a 'bad boy'.
The whole deal with pirating is that products like Norton, Kaspersky, etc. Are marketed better than the freeware so more people want them. And honestly with the prices the way they are who is going to fork out $70 when they can just download something for free ( cracks, keygens, trial resets ) that makes that $70 product cost $0? I'm not saying I pirate security programs. Actually, everything I'm using right now is completely legitimate, but I do not blame people that do for doing so.
I voted over 50%. I used to years ago, until I got hit a few times in a row with bugs that forced me to reformat. I decided it wasn't worth it. Now, with so much free software of all kinds available (even for Windows), who needs pirated? Security, I have a mix of free and paid on my computers. Office, I got the free Softmaker 2008 thing last December. The rest of what I use, Movie Magic Screenwriter, Final Draft Screenwriter are paid for (Movie Magic is better by a wide margin).
Probably at least 50%.Along with others I've found that by hunting around you can usually find promotions or freebies that'll fit the bill if there aren't freeware alternatives.IMO there's really no need to use pirated security software (or any other category) and plenty of reasons not to.
I think casual users probably don't much at all. I think those who are "into" computers do at a high rate. I think once you get into very advanced users, it falls again, only because some of the paid stuff they see the value of. I agree that games are probably the highest %. But with more and more advances in how we use computers, photograpy and movies and music have certainly driven those who are into computers more than casually into using the pirated versions. It is probably nice to use what you want when you want if it is free. Me, I try opensource or free for everything (except the OS). A program like Sandboxie or Shadow Defender, those are awesome apps. I would hate to take away the reward for them, so I pony up and pay. If I were using (for whatever reason) something like Norton, I would be pretty tempted to pirate it, but only because I think they suck. But then, why use it when there are free alternatives? Sul.
I have no used pirated coppys of software before i have always used free copys of avira or avg antivirus. There is no need to use pirated copys of software most time if you google what your looking for theres always a 3 month trial version or 6 months or even 12 month free activation of software out there and forums like Wilders that give you the chance to win software legal is the way to go great job wilders.
Well, there are some free anti-virus programs out there, and if you know where, you can even get FREE enterprise software, Ahnlab, for example.. Wether you want it or not, just plug into most korean schools or uni's and you get the enterprise version for free.
i voted 50%, in the past when i was younger nearlly all my software was pirated. But after coming across all the free stuff like Avira Free, Sandboxie Free i relized that the free was better. all software i use is open source, free. If i did have the money i would deffo buy a paid version for all the free software i use just to show my support, but im low on cash lol.
