I booted up and got a message from Windows saying that it had done an automatic update that involved a reboot. But there was no mention of this when I last turned off the computer. It's not possible Microsoft turned on my computer to perform an update, is it? If not, then what happened here?

I get Windows Defender updates that seem to slip in without needing re-boots. An aunt of mine often turns her computer off as it is re-booting after installing updates. She wonders why it freaks out sometimes when she turns the computer on in the morning. I'd definitely follow Cudni's advice & have a look in View Update History.

Jeez...don't give M$ ideas like that!
