Another player for virtualization. Wondershare Time Freeze and its quick review of it is here.

The article say that it is like a Returnil Virtual System. But the program have a ability to save changes from virtual environment to the actual. Its is sound like a Shadow defender. Easily switch from actual system to the virtual system without a reboot. But I doubt that you need to reboot if you change from virtual system to the actual system and drop the changes. But if its possible, its is like ShadowUser. No mention to exclude files and folders upon reboot. Other to consider maybe how fast it is that now slow down your machine that is very very important in our setup co-exist with the other security software.

I think this have a potential in its kind.

NOTE: WOT give the link a bad reputation. But the installer scan and it is safe. Only Norton react and based on the article, it is safe.

    Hi All

Just installed Time Freeze. It installs easily. It is simple to understand, although Help is a bit basic. No mention why the tray icon flashes for example.

If I understand it correctly it does not virtualize the folders only the system part. On folders you have a choice via settings to either 1) Deny access 2) Not allow modifications. I found the latter more usable.

To try out Time Freeze I set the folders to Deny Access to a) Documents & Settings, b) My Documents c) Downloads. This caused havoc particularly with my browser (Cannot access the profiles)

It is not possible as far as I can see to "Mix & Match" Deny on some folders and Not allow Modifications on others.

I personally find this not as good as Shadow Defender where everything is virtualised unless you "Allow" folders.

The net outcome is that I think this is a very good start for the makers of Time Freeze, but the way they have separated folders from the system leaves a weakness (in my opinion)

Its worth having if its free

IP blocked by MBAM, as I suspected it would be.

    Hi All

Looks as though I was wrong in my previous post. It does virtualize folders. But there is no file manager to predetermine what you want to save. In essence same as Returnil Free minus the Antivirus

Have to tread cautiously on this software since the developer tried to do so many things and website has not got a clean reputation. :p

Can't see where it states free for 6 months?
Loaded up an XP VM with malware to the max with Time Freeze active and all seemed back to normal at reboot.

I'm trying it now. Seems to work rather well. Its low on resources too. I like the fact that I can shut it off without rebooting. Nice feature.

Might be advisable to check these FAQs out.

    http://www.system-tools-software.com/time-freeze/time-freeze-faq.html

From the reports on here so far, it seems quite reliable.

Yeah It does "freeze" for a few seconds when you turn off the protection. Takes about 5-7 seconds. Not bad and alot faster than rebooting my laptop. Of course when you turn off the protection it keeps any changes made to the system.

So is this program ok to use? The feature about exiting without reboot is a definite plus.

I was actually questioning whether it's free for six months as I can only see that it's completely free for all time atm.

What I see at the site:
Maybe the six months trial mentioned was for the Antspyware App?
