Try turning off javascript and also use regular skin instead of anything that you might have added, flash heavy pages take at the most around 200mb here. You can also limit Opera's memory usage by setting to a set number in preferences>advanced>history

You could try to reduce Opera's memory cache: Ctrl+F12 -> Advanced -> History. There from the Memory cache dropdown menu you select the desired size. I myself set it usually to 100/150 MB.
Might help a bit. Restart Opera after this.

Unbelievable! I clicked at least ten times on settings in order to find it and i just didn't see it. I was searching in Preferences and elsewhere to no avail. I can't figure out how I missed it so many times. I would swear it wasn't there.

    Thank you very much

Opera 10.52 Snapshot Build 3338 is released.

    http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/show.dml/

As you will see from the changelog it only includes Core fixes, so if you are awaiting a specific platform or interface bug to be fixed, then this is not the snapshot that will resolve your specific issue. However, it does fix several bugs relating to connection issues, and although the list of bug fixes is not long it should fix a number of seemingly unrelated networking problems (including the dreaded "Waiting for DNS" issue). So if you were having connection issues then this is the build you have been waiting for.

Unless you enable Unite, it remains disabled.

Can someone please advise me how to configure Opera so that it doesn't open ports uninvited?

You can go to the Opera Unite section and untick the "discover local users" feature. I don't see the problem it's not like it goes beyond your network if it's disabled, which it is by default.

Thanks for the quick reply elapsed

Unfortunately "discover local users" is disabled.
Also in Opera's Preferences Editor all the below items are disabled:
    Enable Unite
    UPnP Enabled
    UPnP Service Discovery

Still Opera opens ports and keeps them open and i can't figure out why and most important how to stop it.

Kudos to the relentless work being done by Opera dev, like a good wine, it keeps getting better with age.

The betas are working fine and valuable feedback is being provided so I would rather that 10.52 final takes its merry time and comes out polished or its gonna get skewered at someone's blog ;)
