I understand and to each there own ;) I have been using NOD32 for over 7 years and I always purchase the 2 years license because it's more reasonable!

    Cheers,

I've just upgraded my licence to a 1 year 2 PC licence and wasn't put off by the price at all.

If the quality justifies the price then I'm all for paying for it. ;)

Why would you not do this? If a 4 user license is purchased then why not allow the user to have a multiple home site license?? This would make my purchase decision easier!

I know this will be a touchy answer but then the License can be abused! For myself I use 2 and 2 for my Brother but he does not live in my home. Yes we all would like to get things cheaper and so would I but you got to remember it's a business and they have overhead to pay for so to get the best deal would be multiple year license like I have done!

    yeah, i saw it.

£12 to add an extra PC on the 1 year license?

    lol, no thank you. :thumbd:

im starting to see what others have been seeing, Prevx is getting darn expensive.

I mean, i like Prevx (obviously) and have been using it for many years now, but that is just daylight robbery, especially when alot of companys are making 3-pc the norm these days.

In fact it is pretty strange all computer software providers (not only PrevX) set up a max pc limit. YOU are paying to be allowed to use software, YOU are not paying for installing it on a pc. In my opinion buying the software should allows THE BUYER to install it on ALL PC's THE BUYER OWNS (in my opinion, and not only mine). If you go to the court I think you get a really interesting story.
Also with like buying music CD's you can argue what rights you are actually paying for, the rights of having the disc, or the rights of using the disc, or the rights of using the content of the medium. That kind of things make a huge difference in music distribution and also digital usage of music.

    @Matthijs5nl
You buy the usage of the program but not the program itself & of course there is nothing to say that it will act the way you want it to.
It becomes really interesting when you add a dongle to the mix, the Librarian of Congress ruled that a dongle does not constitute a license but the average public cannot afford the litigation if a software house insists on one.

As far as CD & DVD goes http://www.eff.org/press/archives/2008/12/04

You pays your money and takes your pick
Then wait for another app' that comes along that is as good/better & cheaper

Yes like I said, you pay be allowed to use the program, if the software makers then say you are only allowed to use it one pc only that is really disputable in my eyes.

I have in the past seen a price for an AV (up to 3 PC's) and thought 'I only need 1, why should I pay for or subsidise others'

alot of companys are now making 3pcs the norm, so they are basically giving you 2 extra PC's for free, you aint paying for it. (in most cases)

i agree with the post before you, if its me paying for the service, i should be allowed to use that service on my computers, not just one.

all this 'price-per-PC' is just another easy way to get money from loyal customers.

I think the 3-pc license might stem from most people having a desktop and a laptop.

Although 3-pc license is becoming the norm, most might only use say 2 max of those licenses.

Be interesting to see some data on 3-pc licenses, whether the proportion of users use all allocated licenses, or just 1 (or 2).

The security thread on wilders usually shows the proportion of people who state 'system 1' and 'system 2', meaning they personally own two computers. You'll notice the trend of say one paid license, and their other system having a free setup. Not that that tells you much, except for people might not be prepared to pay for more than one license if the subsequent license price is too high.

I'm no expert in AV software, but if extra licences, say for 2 or 3 is only marginally higher in price (say $10-$20), most companies probably see it as an easy deal, as the processing goes through one owner/purchaser, and the renewal goes through them as well, along with any support issues and so on. Not as time consuming for the business - dealing with one person, where any issues on one system the owner can fix on their own on the other systems, as opposed to three different owners who each expect A+ service, chewing up more company support resources (I'm assuming anyway).

Joe isn't the person to speak to though, as he deals in the development side of things.

i think that the price of prevx is not expensive comparing to norton/nod32/kav/macafy:D way to expensive for 3 pc's i check it out today thinking that because of easter will be cheaper but to my surprice the range price of those products mention at bestbuy/featureshop/londondrug was from 69 to 89:thumbd: :thumbd: :thumbd: i will rather pay prevx 5 bucks more for better protection and better performance if you know what i mean:thumb: plus when it comes to rootkit detention prevx is a winner here:thumb:

While we all have our opinions on software pricing the final word on the PREVX pricing structure is obviously theirs! They seem to be refraining from much input on the subject and are leaving the pricing alone. I can't say that I blame them though since they are selling and we are buying!;)

it all depends on the individual, but i have just gone through all the vendors and while a 3 user licence is around the same price on most suites, prev x does not include a firewall, but they were about £7 cheaper.
i have found though that looking around shops here in Grimsby UK you do find much better deals, will prev x ever be released into the shops

I'm not sure what we will be doing in the UK into physical stores but in the next couple weeks Prevx will be at a large US retail location in box form :)

get it sorted here in the UK Joe, its a English company, deserves to be in the shops! :)

PcWorld would be your first choice, then you can start to enter the game/music stores who currently seem to only sell Norton, McAfee and Kaspersky.

this country only has those 3 on offer for sale. o_O

but of course, 3-pc. (like all Prevx licenses should be) :)
