I will be setting up a new computer within the next day or so. I decided to make the jump from XP to Window 7, and from 32-bit to 64-bit Windows all at the same time.

I'll almost certainly be using NOD32 AV. I've been using it for a number of years and it works quite well. (It would be nice if it did a better job on other types of malware though. But I suppose being really good at one thing is better than being mediocre at a lot of things.)

To supplement NOD32, I will probably be using MBAM. I use their real-time protection module too.

I will also keep the free version of SuperAntiSpyware installed, and scan occasionally with it.

I had been using Comodo firewall, but was never really satisfied with the quality of the software or their support and polices.

So, I need to figure out what exactly I'm going to be using for security software, and a firewall in particular. I was reading about some software called Windows 7 Firewall Control that uses MS's WFP. It seems like a good solution.

Went back to OA and geswall. Comodo would hang on some websites. I went to download avast and it would hang trying to open avast site. Maybe a problem w/ avast website. Except I just went to it w/ OA installed and didn't have a problem.

I'm back to using CIS 4 after the bug-fix update. Yesterday, the Comodo Sandbox stopped rogue Security Tool from installing. Hooray! Comodo is really on the right track about stopping 0-day malware.

Yeah you could do with out zemena. As far as two firewall, I think Illya said that defensewall firewall could be used next to another firewall. Not that I would. Other than that its a great set up.

well i follow the rules of 1 layered security because i believe always that using 2 security product which do the same thing as the other will do more bad things than good in your security setup

    trying out

    Vipre premium

    Some small changes

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Windows Firewall: on, Windows Defender: off, UAC: full, DEP: on all programs and services

Browser: Internet Explorer 8, dropped Google Chrome (although it's seperate processes are good), I discovered after deleting all my other browser I actually don't have any problems with IE8, the OS integration is perfect, it is really safe. And when you are just surfing around on sites you hardly notice it is that much slower than Google Chrome according to the tests.

    ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.2 realtime
    Hitman Pro 3.5 64-bit on-demand (paid)

    I do like simplicity :D

    I'm still on my A-Squared V5 + ESET NOD32 Smart Security.

Probably will change NOD32 when trial expires.

You should have read my post, I dropped Chrome because I feel I don't need a third-party browser anymore.

Still sticking with the setup in my signature. It's been like that for a while and has performed amazingly well. Don't see a reason to change, as I have tested many AV's especially and none have performed better than KAV.

Anything needed to make PC Tools Firewall work with KAV and your other programs? Rock solid setup, what I would probable use if I went 64-bit.

Nope. All 3, PC Tools Firewall Plus, KAV and MBAM Pro all chug along great together on my system.
