I have tried to restore a snapshot on three different occasions now all resulting with the following error.

    "Error code 0x10022 Internal error"

I am running from the Recovery CD and the restore gets about 50% complete when this error occurs.

    Please advise
    Regards

    Hello Domainbug,

It's possible that your archive is corrupted. Use the file transfer wizard to sample data from the archive. Run the File Transfer Wizard, locate the archive files (.PBF or .000) and double click to 'drill' into the archive. Highlight files/folders, move to clipboard and complete the wizard. We can also check the archive integrity with Backup & Recovery 10 Free Edition.

    Hi Tommy,

Thanks for your reply. As a way of testing the software I have been running two different backups every day. One automatic backup and one manual backup some hours later.

The auto backups/snapshots I can never browse/explore. Its obviously trying to read the file on the external drive but only ever comes up with one strange line and nothing that ever resembles a directory tree, and it takes about 5 minutes for this to appear. Hense my problem with restoring a backup here.

One the other hand ALL manual backups are explorable and restoreable with no problems.

Have also tried the file transfer wizard, works with the manuals and not with the auto backups.

Will it help to run in one of the compatibility modes perhaps ??

    Regards Lee

    Hello Domainbug,

I would check with your automatic backup setup to see what it's including. There's really no difference how the program backups when it's executed manually or automatically. If you look at the files created, the extension and prefix of the names can tell you something about the type of backup. Are the names identical? Assuming you've backed up the same number of partitions, are there the same number of files created. Do a comparison those details and it might give us a lead to why those are failing.

Finally, if you check your log, we definitely don't want to assume the automatic backups are "successful" yet. If the computer is logged out or lock, make sure you've enabled "Run As" in the scheduled task.

    Thanks Tommy,

As I mentioned I cant compare files as I can't get any file reading from any of the Auto backups at all.

One thing I forgot to mention was the fact that every time I start a manual backup I get a file not found error for "schedule_launch.exe" I have done a machine wide search and its not anywhere to be found !! In the course of all these problems I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times.

    Regards
    Lee

    schedule_launcher.exe is located in the Paragon Software folder \Program Files\Paragon Software\Drive Backup\Program\schedule_launcher.exe

Compare the archive files. For instance, if my first set has the following files:

    arc_903423.PBF
    img_0_093842.000
    img_1_023423.000
    xxxxx.PFM

This tells me that I backed up two partitions, image split disabled.

    Hi Tom

    What I have here is
schedule_launcher.exe is located in the Paragon Software folder \Program Files\Paragon Software\System Backup 2010\Program\schedule_launcher.exe

As I have re-installed the program several times now and that file has been missing every time I can only assume that it was not included in the original install archive !!

I can compare files as you suggest using My Computer option and the snapshot looks fine and intact but if I use the "explore" option in the program then this almost always results in a corrupt readout.

If I use backup wizard then there are no problems on backup or restore/browse.

I have deleted the DBHStorage folder on occasions and recreated it. I can then explore the first snapshot only but all others past that first one are then corrupt.

I was using the personal edition for most of last year without any problems. Since I have purchased this latest version it has been a constant worry. Its no where near compact enough like the free version. This version has got modules all over the place that require you to keep going back to the programs menu, its a real pain in the rear Tom.

    Regards
    Lee

    Hello domainbug,

Schedule_launcher.exe is not included in the System Backup 2010. File Transfer Wizard is probably our most friendly method to extract and sample files from an archive. I also want to suggest downloading the Backup & Recovery 10 Free Edition and take a look if you prefer this interface more. Can you explain what happens when you open using the explorer?

    Hi Tom,

It seems to me that since the paid version is such an unfriendly, incomplete dog of a program to use which is obviously still full of bugs and I have been referred back to the free version then I would be well within my rights as a customer and beta tester to ask for a full refund.

    Please organise this ASAP

    Regards
    Lee Asher

Any progress fixing all these issues with Paragon Systems Backup 2010?

    I find these outstanding issues:
    • schedule_launch.exe not found
    • Multiple folders created in the root of C:
      • archdb
      • BM2005
      • etc
      • psr
      • psr_inst
    • When I start the overall program rather than the backup wizard it always wants to create an automatic "first" backup

This product is really quite in need of a maintenance release.

Also, it appears that the Windows/Microsoft Update History is not restored. Is it considered a system file along with the pagefile and hibernation file? I don't feel it should be...

Not all negative, however. PSB 2010 does run faster than the predecessors.
