Does PrevX scan & check incoming email like other AV programs like AVG Antivirus and Eset NOD32? If not are there plans to add it? Thanks
No it doesn't. However if there was malware present in the email the moment it becomes active Prevx will nab it.
No it doesn't. I think current wisdom is that there's no point scanning emails. This is included with AV programs just as a "selling point".
Yeah, you could be right. My clients like to see the "email checked by AV" messages at the bottom of emails I send out. I currently use PrevX and NOD32 AV but am having problems with the latest NOD32 update and am wondering about to simplify my PC setups by just using PrevX when my current NOD32 license expires in a couple of months. Those "email checked by" messages can give a false sense of security. I have had more than a few that had that on them that contained infected attachments. As whether to drop Nod and just use Prevx alone...I can't comment on that.
NOD32 is really good. I ran it with Prevx 3.0, Online Armor, Sandboxie, SpywareBlaster, and Trojan Remover. So I had four real time security app. NOD32 uses about 45 /46 MB RAM; Prevx, Online Armor, and Sandboxie together use about 50 MB RAM. When my license was over I used Prevx, Online Armor, and Sandboxie. You can run NOD32, Prevx, or NOD32 and Prevx. I believe that in either of the cases you'd be reasonably protected. I only have a gig of RAM so I chose to let NOD32 go. It is a very good antivirus, probably the best of the non cloud and the company is a good one. And if if you have two gigs of RAM you could run it along with Prevx. I read somewhere - wish I could remember - that mail file could be corrupted by the constant scanning with antivirus. I do feel that it is unnecessary since on execution any antimalware will stomp a virus. Until I can verify the effects of scanning mail files constantly please do not accept it as fact.
