NOD32 being ripped off.

    I emailed the staff at NOD32 but I just want to make sure you know.

    NoAdware is ripping you off with their Google Adwords. "Free nod32 virus scan" then leads to NoAdware. Blah. These people have done this before and are extremely annoying. I hope you stop these people.

    You are absolutely right here. I for one do urge you - and everyone for that matter - to drop google an email and complain/demand to delete this.

    Unfortunately, many top notch softwares are targetted this way for quite a while now. Many have been addressed - not enough though.

    Not only send an email to Google to complain but also send one to COAST, since noadware is a member of COAST. COAST is supposed to have some standards of ethical conduct that members are to follow. What you report (advertising a free NOD32 scan by Noadware) is blatant false advertising.

    I just dont like seeing these creeps get away with such crap.

    Its like SpyHunter and Spybot. I dont think google even looks at the ads they put up.

    I have discovered an even more serious fraud! NOD32 being ripped off again!

    As a newcomer to NOD32 on my friend's recommendation, I found the web page h**p://www.nod-32.com by mistakingly typing "NOD-32".

    This looks like a NOD32 web page, but it is a planned deception! A click to "Download" leads to BullGuard, not NOD32. Also a click to "Purchase" leads to BullGuard, not NOD32.

    I think this is disgusting behaviour! Even if BullGuard is free, I will NEVER buy it! I have seen it before and I know it is rubbish, but some people will be deceived to waste their money thinking they are buying NOD32.

    Well, this is being discussed right now over at dslreports and there a link there to an old thread indicating that there is nothing wrong with this and that Eset knows about it. However, if this guy is a reseller of NOD32, he going about it in a very strange fashion because, as you have noted, if you click on the link to download NOD32 you get BullGuard instead! There is no way to download NOD32 so looks to me like he is a squatter.

    I did enjoy one thing on that page and that was the explanation of how NOD32 got its name! That should be a sticky here!! I always wondered and it is such an interesting story.

    Edited to say that evidently this fraudster is doing the same thing with AVG anti-virus. Just put the hyphen in when you type AVG's url and you will get this Goran Gluck's page offering AVG but when you go to download you get BullGuard instead.

    I will never be recomending BullGuard, not that I have, but this shows just how stupid they are. Seriously, its come to a point where fraud is pretty much the only ways of selling ones product. This has gotta be stopped, especially with that site. Bah. I hope NOD32 does something about this.

    Trying to steal NOD32 or other anti-virus customers, like this Bullguard character is doing, is despicable.

    It's called "snagging", and it's a big money spinner for unscrupulous operators.

    Porn pushers have been prosecuted for mis-directing surfers who mis-type domain names like "dinsey.com" and similar typos children are likely to make to their filth sites.

    Verisign recently was publicly berated for "snagging", and backed down.

    The best thing we can probably do for the short term is not go to the sites. I'm sure they have gotten more hits since it has been posted in this forum.
