The CureIT program is very nice and handy.

 

There are really good applications in Dr. Web.
AV-Desk (for ISPs and other network providers), CureIt, LiveCD, and last one would be firewall which passed all leak test that i do.

 

been using it for a month now (security space 5) bought the license a while back. it looks like it uses a lot of resouces, ie 5 processes and about 120.000 ram on this pc, 4 gig win 7 64 bit. but it's the fastest av i can find that causes no problems and i havnt found any bugs to date. i also have license for eset and kaspersky, had problems with memory leak on eset and kaspersky seems to use no resources, well very little but web browsing, unzipping, start up etc all slow pc down (and i hate that!)
dr web seem to have dropped out of most of the indepentent tests for their own reasons. but it's found everything i have thrown at it. i use hitman pro and malwarebytes as back up scanners, they have never found anything.
some people hate the gui (if you can call it that) i personally love it.
with av all programs run differently on differenty pc's and people like different things. why dont you try it? http://download.drweb.com/
self defense seems solid and removal/ cleaning is meant to be among the best.


oh! and i have 3 unopened tickets i sent to support, oldest one is nearly a month old. so support sucks. but the forum where i found my answers is great, they asked me to email my questions to them direct.

Have you tried to use Dr. Web Security 5 scanner to scan your HD?
If you do, then do it when you are gone to bed, as it will take forever to finish the scan.
It is the slowest scanner ever made.
Yes, it has a light footprint and good detection rates, but poor scanning.

I thought it was quality of scans people wanted and not speed....

drweb is one ofthe best available for sure, and that recent report on past testing methods only highlighted drwebs correct decisions to not participate.

 

Are you using DR Web Security 5?
To answer your "thought".... I want both quality of scans AND speedier scans.

If you want this to much and if you are serious about this why don't you go to bug tracker and make a feature request?

 

52 minutes to scan 2 500 gb drives theres not much on one of them though. I dont use the scanner as i don't belive you need to really if an av monitors whats running anyway. but it's probably the slowest scanner i have used.

 

if you use drweb and if you want the benefits of smart mode you need to scan your computer once then drweb would mark clean documents and your future operations would be more quick.

What version of Panda did you use, with Panda cloud it scans my HD in 7 min's.

 

Panda IS only the Av part thouugh.

only 1 full scan is needed, but we live in a world were lots of people loke to do full scans just for the fun of it, sometimes on a daily routine,

Drweb only needs 1 full scan, then the express setting can be used with archives not scanned, it will dramatically speed up your scans without losing any security!

So, I don't see the problem I'm afraid.....

Some people on here are hilarious, they care more for a pretty gui w or a pretty tray icon than the product itself.

 

fake antivirus (trojan.fakealert.*) have very cool GUI. use them! they are flashy too much

One thing that impressed me about Dr.Web is the experience I had on their Forum.

I had an issue with CureIt,where after a scan,the GUI would show no detection,but a white pop-up window would appear,telling me malware had been detected,and advising to buy the full product.

I registered on their forum,reported the problem,received a quick response,
was asked for a couple of screen shots of the GUI after a scan,and the pop-up,and was quickly sent an email telling me the bug was reproduced,and would be fixed.

I thank that is nice for support of their free product.

 

i like dr web but i do agree they need to step it up a bit to be more current. and i dont mean a fancy gui but even just a central one. all the separate ones is just annoying and a pain in the neck imo. also yes it can be slow but it is very light regardless it does use a god bit of ram while doing its thing. i do like dr web overall though.
