Hope that MSE will introduce the file transfer support for common apps as Windows Live messenger, implementing a command line to scan every single file.

Some thread suggest to set as command line scanner the simple word "echo", instead to install onecare scanner... have you tried it?

The upgrade from within MSE has not yet been deployed.

You can either wait for the upgrade to be offered in the near future or you can simply download and install over 1611.

If you cannot wait, I would uninstall the old version and then install 1959, as there have been some reports of problems when installing 1959 over version 1.0.1611.0.

Deployed the new version, the default window size of the GUI has been made a tad smaller, but still the same performance problems hamper this version of this otherwise great piece of software. Testing avast! and Kaspersky for a while.

Never seen any performance problems at all on several machines.

After I placed some of the common archive files in exclusions, I have found it to run as light as a feather in real-time.

However, I know that some other users are reporting problems; software/hardware combinations!

And those archive files would be?
Also, does it not compromise the security in anyway, since unlike Avira, you cannot define separate exclusions for 'Guard' and 'Scanner'.

Archive files cannot execute until the are unpacked, at which point they become other files. I had to exclude archives as well, otherwise it just sits there and hogs resources scanning large files that can do nothing in their current state.

    A Question About Archive Scanning

Does the new version of MSE have the ability to disable its real-time (not manual/scheduled) scanning of archives? That's one thing that has kept me from using it.

Yeah me too. I had hoped this release would have fixed my issues but it didn't. After desktop loads, 100 percent CPU MSE related for about 7 minutes then settles down. I could possibly live with that. After settling down, went to my download folder, fairly small, 100 percent CPU MSE related with forever and a day for all the icons to render. Won't have that one. Earlier version I had excluded explorer.exe which fixes the latter issue but I'm not interested in even trying that on this final version.

I also had the 7 min's of 100% usage from MSE. The other thing that made me leave was the conflict with ZoneAlarm and Defensewall.

The only issue I had with MSE was the updating of definitions. Sometimes it would update everyday other times it wouldn't update at all. The cpu spikes I did not notice.
