The drive where you have your archive : is it by chance in FAT32 format, which has a 4 GB max filesize limit ?

It is formatted NTFS. It will take the creation of the Archive it just won't update it.

Just to be sure : have you performed a chkdsk /f on both the system drive and the destination drive where the archive is.

I have run the system disk, but not the Archive Disk. I'm not sure how to run it on the Archive.

    Start/Execute
    Type 'cmd'

    then type
'chkdsk /f /v L:' if L: is the archive disk

Well Merle I tried that and it still won't update the Archive.

I am pretty sure that it is not trying to update the Archive ,but is adding to it. It doesn't show that it is doing anything but I checked the drive and the used space had increased.

Just to be sure : how do you know there is a problem ? You mentioned the space used by the archive has increased after an update. Which is the normal behaviour when the update succeeds.

Edited : sorry, I forgot about the lock part.

When you go to update the archive through the FD-ISR gui and it locks up, what does it say happened in the FD-ISR log file? (tools>view activity log>click on the blue cross to expand log for that event)

Does it say anything about the lock up in the windows event viewer?
