Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

Since installing build 88 (withWindows7+KIS), HMP now crashes halfway through a scan. Tried a fresh install, but same result every time.

    Problem found

We have found the problem with build 88.
For now everybody with build 88 is reverted to build 87 if they start Hitman Pro.
Within 12 hours build 89 will go online.
    Thanks everybody for reporting! :thumb:

I skipped 88 and went from 87 to 89. Smooth update and scan.
    Thank you. :)

I started a new thread related to TDL3 rootkit and Microsoft's patch for a 17-year old bug making computers unbootable.

A must read as it includes some statistics coming from the Hitman Pro cloud.

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

Very nice program tried it out on a heavily infected machine and cleaned alot of it but still couldn't completely get rid of TDSS rootkit. But did get rid of lots of trojans and rogues specifically security essentials 2010.

After a reboot it couldn't get rid of a sys file that was infected. Then ran malwarebytes and found some 50 infected files and rebooted and couldn't start windows again neither in safe mode it just kept restarting.

Liked its very fast scan and force breach mode. But is it possible to add malwarebytes scan engine to this? That would put this program over the top.

Installed this build which said my Winsock LSP's had some problem that it fixed. Then after the restart, welcome screen took longer than usual, and no internet access afterwords. :(

Any comments about Winsock LSP issue? I would not use Hitman with issues like that. o_O

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

The Winsock LSP repair is there when malware that has registered an LSP driver is removed. When a removal tool like Hitman Pro deletes the malware you MUST repair the chain (since the deleted LSP driver caused the chain to be broken). A broken chain results in a non-working internet connection.

Your problem is stating the opposite: the repair is CAUSING no internet access.

Are you using x64 or x86?

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

I just tested latest Hitman Pro build 90 x64. I got that repair Winsock option too. No malwares here at the moment and past few months. No malware removals done.

I have Internet Download Manager installed with advanced browser integration enabled...is that the reason for Hitmans suggestion? If so, I would consider that's false positive.

I just tried the download at www.internetdownloadmanager.com on x86. No problems with Hitman Pro there. Trying x64 now.

I also tried IDM on Windows 7 x64. No report of Winsock LSP Repair either. Must be something else. Any idea's?

I just disabled IDM's advanced browser integration and "false positive" is gone. Hitman does not like that integration it seems.

    W7 Ultimate 64-Bit, Norton 360 4.0 and Prevx here.

I am showing all Microsoft LSP's and the ones used by VMware which I think are the ones that Hitman Pro doesn't like.
