Are you? ;) - And why constantly?
How often do you want to change update rhythm then? :)

Time wasting is what you do here, posting your complains. So it clearly isn't about time but more likely about 'Avast', right? :D

And yes, they should change that. You are right. But until then it's no reason to not use it as you can do it yourself if you are an 'advanced' - non lazy :) - user. :D

I rarely stick with one antivirus for longer than a month. Mostly because i test stuff and i change them constantly. And so, i have to use these dreaded hacks all the time. Annoying and it's really ~Snip~ me off. avast! is really the only AV that works sufficiently well out of the box so i don't have to hack it. AVIRA needs hacking for it's crappy update process and even more awful notify ad popup, AVG needs it for more regular update checking, MSE for update checking. It gets kinda old over time.

And i wouldn't really mind 24 hour update cycle if it was at least checking for update when you connect to internet like AVG and avast! do. Noooo. If it's not 24 hours ago, it doesn't care. When i go online, i want my defenses fully up to date. You don't go into combat with empty rifle, no helmet and already punctured bullet proof west... maybe guys at Microsoft could learn something from real world combat, even though the comparison is not direct. Analogy still applies.

Don't have this problem often, but I'm going to give this a try. Thanks for the recommendation!

i installed Microsoft Security Essentials and i am so pleased, the integration with the OS is obviously the best ever the system resource usage is too slow and i get rid of Windows defender cause Essentials can find and protect me of spyware so this is my AV of choice so good, the PC runs great and again very light but powerfull AV thanks Microsoft :thumb: :D

Weird because when I hit upgrade it tells me I'm at the latest version (1.0.1901.0), also that engine version is old, the current engine version is "Engine Version: 1.1.5406.0"

Thanks for the link Blackcat, but unfortunately after logging in it just provides me with an error. Could you upload the 64bit version somewhere?
