The official Zone Alarm forum is unavailable since Saturday.

I want to ask about the current beta version 9.1.118.000. When will be going to finale release?

I'm using 9.1.008.000 currently and i like it, no bugs, very good protection.

    Hi!
ZA forum is OFF due to servers migration and upgrading. ZA development never ever publish release dates of their products. So, no one knows about release dates before it is released. If 9.1.008.000 is stable for you then 9.1.118.000 should be even more since it contains many fixes and improvements as compared to the former.

With a valid license you can jump on the beta without having the beta expiring in 50/60 days. However, as soon as you have the final version released you will need to fully remove the beta to be able to install the retail version.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Fax

Thanks fax! I don't like beta versions, i read on the beta forum about BSOD-s on Win 7 but i might give it a chance. I'm using Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

Do you know everything about the forum? I mean when will be available?

    Thanks.

I installed the beta, so far so good. I noticed a few changes in the interface. Hope it won't do any BSOD, i read the changelog and the known issues.

These are more low risk betas with fixing and polishing of code rather than new code. The BSOD reported in the forum related to both the retail and the beta. So, a specific machine/configuration related problem.... :)

260/300 comodo thingy prove nothing... only that comodo pass all leaktests... :D

The real test is by using the product on actual threats (day-to-day). ZA Extreme provides a wide range of multilayer protection as good as other much talked security packages. Of course, can't cover 100% on what is out there... especially if it is not used properly.

ZA is either love or hate. It is good that lately I have seen more lovers in here... or more balanced input (no free bashing) but yet... not enough :shifty:

Yeaah, not bad... and constantly improving on later releases. They are actually putting a lot of efforts in stability, solidity, lightness and advanced protection.

I hope they will keep improving it :thumb:

No but i dont care. I think we need to look at the whole product. Leak test is good for testing HIPS but what about everything else? I used Comodo IS but i didn't like it, i think it's a good product, maybe it is the best in freeware but for me it was annoying. Wether i work or play on my computer i don't like too many popups, i like when most of the things are automatic. I know Defense + is a powerfull weapon against malware, especially when a clever user managing it but Zone Alarm Forcefield is powerfull too. At least for me and this is just a piece of the Extreme Security, it has more defense mechanism, like Advanced Download Protection wich is very effective against 0-day malware, OSFirewall.. and so on.

And very important thing is, we must use the internet, the computer carefully. There is no "best" antivirus, especially if the user is stupid.

Add one more to the List - I tried a few possible replacements & ended up sticking with Zone Alarm. The Extreme Security Suite has several layers of layers of protection, virtualization & alot more. (Pretty Good Package - IMHO)

Not only Comodo, OSSS too for exemple. ;) Ya, alone Comodo Leak tests are not deciding, as whatever test; but they are a not bad clue... The use in the wild alone is also not deciding, when I use a security software I want also to have info about Leak and similar intrusive tests. ( don't worry, I'm able to use and to to set properly a security sw. :thumb: )

Ehm, sorry but the comment was not really directed to you.... :)
Interesting, you always popup at every ZA release asking the same question.... HIPS ... the answer is always the same.
If you want comodo leaks proof firewall use comodo. Here we are talking about something else.

Anyway peace, love and HIPS :D

I think i discovered the first problem.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - localized version

    Zone Alarm Extreme Security 9.1.118.000

DAEMON Tools Lite v4.35.5 (with SPTD 1.62)

When i start Daemon Tools i get an error saying i must turn off kernel debugger.

i searched about this error and i found this advice:

go to start menu -> Run
    type in cmd
open it by right-clicking and choosing "Run as adminstrator"
    Type bcdedit -debug off
    press enter
    and reboot

But i still get this error after reboot.

On Daemon Tools forum i found this:

"OK, apparently ZonaAlarm new toolbar Forcefield or whatever extra cause this problems. Removing the toolbar (which basically is that forcefield IMHO) from add/remove propgrams solved all my porblems with DT kernel issue."

    Another user:

"Thank's, that Zone Alarm toolbar was the problem, after i removed it from control panel my DT started working perfectly "

Official hel guide from Daemon Tools:

    :doubt:

Yep, it's definetly ForceField conflicting with Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. But i didn't uninstall it.

I started Task Manager, killed the process ISWSVC.exe wich is releated to ForceField, it started back automatically but i had enough time to launch Daemon Tools Lite and now it's working.:D

fax can you post a beta feedback about this issue?

I have seen this reported in the ZA forum. I am not using Daemon or Alcohol. Are you running the beta? If yes, you could report the issue here

    Thanks,
    Fax

I'm sorry too, I got you ironic while you was not. ;) Answering to you and to Narxis, ya, when I consider a security suite, his HIPS component is my absolute priority, because it is my priority.... I agree that ZA Pro firewall is very good ! As a pop ups, they are not bothersome for me, because they allow to me to set my system as restricted as it's possible.

Great, if you got an automatic e-mail back with the copy of the issue then they have received it. Strange it is not yet fixed, I think it was reported many times in the ZA board. May be no one followed with development directly or it is not fixable in the short term....

Yep, i got the e-mail. Accidentally i set the bug for High(BSOD, Hang..) priority, i hope it's not a big problem, it's a medium priority bug at least, Daemon Tools and Alcohol is a very popular freeware software.

But! I don't want to uninstall Zone Alarm Extreme Security 2010, because i love it. I wait till the trial expires then(if no other bugs) i will buy it.

Thats sound OK to me... High sound fine too. May be it will push for a quicker fix, who knows :D

Well, ZAX is not free from bugs yet... been reporting two or three in the past days. If you do no play too much with the advanced program control options it will be rock solid... ;)

Wait a minute you were able to terminate the process associated with forcefield and which is part of extreme security. How did you manage that with task manager? Did extreme security defend itself against that termination? To me you should not have been able to terminate that process even when it did restart.

Did you disable extreme security before the process termination? It is quite interesting because the implication of process termination, at least to me, is mind boggling.

    Thanks.
