Yep and Raymons is allowed to give away 75 licences, only 30 people have reacted, so either Raymond's blog is not so hot (very little reader traffic), or most Raymond readers allready have a DW lisence or there is no interest in getting a DW lisence

Defensewall 3 has a firewall right? So if I wanted to give it a try I'd have to get rid of geswall and OA. I wonder if having defensewall 3 and a-squared would be enough protection. What do you think?

 

definitely enuff protection IMO.

 

You would have to drop Geswall I would think but not OA, DW3 firewall is different from traditional firewalls and seems to work OK with OA. You can of course disable the firewall only in either product and keep the HIPS parts.

DW and A2 is a good combo but when I last tried them together the A2 surf protection did not work but then with DW I did not feel I needed it.

Yeah I asked over at defensewall forum. They said that you can run OA and A-squared without any issues. Of course I'd have to drop geswall.

 

SBIE already has 64-biit version. GesWall might bring out a 64 bit version I hope. DW is very good indeed but without 64 bit support it,s days are numbered.

I wish Ilya can make a 64-bit version, may be even from scratch. Hmmm....may be similar to GesWall, using window,s builtin policy restrictions and virtualization and still being power full.

If ILya will not support 64 bit, DW will die very soon. It,s just my opinion.

 

I don't think it will die. Alot of people still use 32 bit. There are alot of hold outs that still use Xp pro for whatever reason. I myself am waiting for a major update for windows 7. After that I may update my xp pro to 64 bit. Hell there are people still using win 98se. You know who you are out there.

It's good for DW, many people will test it. But you'll have mountains of people test it and most likely try to infect their system to test its ability, not understand how the software works, and screw up their system, then start posting on DW's forum to save their pc from extinction.

 

it takes a champ or brave soul to do that but anyway even if we have traditional antivirus program people will still get infected just by visiting the web anyway so they are use to get infectedso they may visit the DW forum instead of the norton/macafy forums

My thoughts aswell, give it a few years and x86 systems wont even be on sale, even today, id say the vast majority are now x64 that are selling with new machines.

 

64 bit is rapidly gaining speed but 32 aint dead yet. It wasn't that long ago that Tzuk said that he wouldn't make a 64 bit version of Sandboxie. Ilya will no doubt follow suit sometime in the future as the market dictates.

 

Right and wrong. DW V3 is two-editions version- HIPS and Personal Firewall.

 

So when is v3 officially released?

 

Go n have a look on notebooks, most OEMs are isnatlling 64-bit by default. HAve a good guess for future. Ofcourse it,s just my guess.

 

New PCs mostly will be 64-bit as it is being supported by OEMs.

So all these new PCs can,t get DW even if they want. Guess then ...

 

I can't say for sure, but this or next month.

 

I was thinking it was going to be soon. There don't seem to be as many error reports on the support forum. The last few versions have been running problem free for me.
