    Hi,
I have been trying to get the PCU (Program Componants Update) working in Remote Administrator 3.1.15 (and previous releases), and so far have had no luck.

The PCU tick box in the Server options/updates page is greyed out. I have read the instructions at the bottom of this page, and have set them up (I can put a picture of them here if thats helpful). I still don't seem to be getting any program updates. I'm still stuck to having to manually download and install them.

Does PCU work in this version of Remote Administrator?

Some info: We are running ERA ver 3.1.15, ESET Nod32 AV version 4 on the workstations. The Remote Administrator and Server is running on Windows 2008 64bit.

Is there something else I can try?

Sorry if this has already been asked, I couldn't see it in the forum.

    Richard

    Hello Richard_P,

The PCU function will not work because Program Component Upgrades are not pushed out for versions 3.0 and 4.0. Versions 3.0 and 4.0 are .msi files and not executable like version 2.7.

    Thank you,
    Richard

A PCU to v. 3.0.695 is going to be distributed to existing v3 users with older builds soon.

    Hi Richard_P,

To clarify a little, most "version upgrades" address only a few very *specific* issues. Unless you are trying to resolve one of those *specific* issues, there's no benefit to upgrading.

That doesn't mean support won't ask you to try it to see if it *may* help something not mentioned as until they know for sure, the chance of it helping is there

Only occasionally will they push out a Program Component Upgrade (PCU). These will be downloaded by all ESET users (of that build) and will contain all those minor upgrades and usually something that's pretty important right away to most of them. The reason they don't do this more often is that once a PCU is received a reboot is most often necessary. Most Admin don't like to hear that they must reboot every machine on the network NOW. It has to be a big reason to push one out.

    BFG

Thank you all for your reply's. The replies have answered my question.

I will leave it setup to get PCU's as I don't see it doing damage. As for the version change, I won't let it bother me. It sounds like it isn't a major.

    Richard.
