is jv16 2010 out of beta yet?

i was not sure and didnt see a official changelog or info on their web site they said it was supposed to be released in december but i have yet to get the update if it comes that way and their site still downloads 2009 version? thanks

What do people think of this for general PC tidying? I've been using Tune Up Utilities but it seems to add so much bloat if every release!

 

i think for normal users ccleaner is he best it a pretty safe one to run. jv16 is MUCH more powerful and digs way deeper. i have at times has people remove things they should not with it making windows non boot. if you want something for every day use ccleaner imo if you know what you are doing i highly recc jv16

 

I've never had any problems with JV-16, probably mainly because with the exception of one version a few years back, with default settings it's quite conservative with what it reports as "problems". In iffy cases, it's set to err on the side of caution and preserving status-quo.

In fact, with the exception of that one over-zealous version, I've enough faith in it that I've never bothered with its backups. I understand that the upcoming 2010 version will no longer offer options for that, all backups will be done automatically.

 

thanks for the info denniz, I was beginning to lose hope a new version would come out in a reasonable time, now at least i know i've got to wait till April for my win7 64bits.
Will the new version cover 64bits as well,will it?

I agree with mikeBCda as regards the reliability of jv16.
I use their cleaning programs since Win98 and I must say that ,contrary to RegSeeker or ComodosystemCleaner (now improved,too) which made sometimes terrible errors, JV16 and its predecessor RegSupreme always were both accurate and conservative, cleaning the registry way better than the ultra-conservative CCleaner.
In my opinion, CCleaner should be used by people who either dont care too much about thorough cleaning or dont have an image to deploy at their disposal.
Having an image at hand I often pushed these softwares to the limit and they all could make mistakes cleaning registry,excepting Jv16 ,which I use always on XP.
I am waiting for the new version to come out for my Win7 64bits.

 

i only say what i do because i dont know how knowledgeable any one person is. a basic user could def do some serious damage with jv16. normally it is fine and safe. but i steer the everyday user away from it even here at the shop only because it is a very powerful reg cleaner if you want it to be. if you know anything about this type of stuff you will be fine using it though.

 

As an intermediate user, I use it, and never remove anything I don't recognize. I will use it after I uninstall an app to clean up remnants as an example. I like how I can remove individual items, rather than trust a utility to "clean" my computer.

 

100% agreed thats one of the best features of it imo is the leftover removal from programs.

 

Yes, I use jv16 for some years now. It is powerful on the one hand and dangerous on the other. Their manual makes this very clear recommending backups for the register PRIOR to change.

On being still in beta, for W7 optimization I feel that is a good thing. The last very last SW I would rush to market is a registry product like jv16.

On their forum I asked if I can use jv16 PT 2009 on a W7 64 bit setup. The answer they gave was yes, but a caveat was it is NOT optimized for W7 until jv16 2010.

Meanwhile, keep your image up!
