    Thanks Saraceno,

But I'd like to know where this file came from, with random names and loading at startup it's suspicious. btw I let Hitman remove that file and nothing bad happened after restart.

Tested latest version of the rogue Live PC Care against latest Hitman Pro.

No option to upload for a cloud scan and after a second or third scan/reboot trial period expired?

I don't think it needs to upload anything, since it already detected the threat.

    Suspicious = detected? I don't think so ...

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

Maybe one of the Loman brothers can explain, but the way I see it Hitman Pro lisence is as follows:

    A) you have a FREE trial UNTIL something SUSPICIOUS is detected

    B) You get a FREE 30 day lisence (so you can remove Suspicious files), just activate

    C) Afterwards you can not use Hitman Pro anymore as s freebie

So Hitman Pro did not fail on Franklin's test, it did what it should be

Being also Dutch it is easier for me to read Dunglish (Dutch translated into English) than an Auzzie, but really Hitman Pro did its job and kepts its promise (offering a fee 30 day working lisence).

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

I have Hitman to scan at startp.

    Should I see anything?

    Is it that fast? How?

I quickly hit ctrl-alt-del to bring up Process Explorer and saw Hitman appear and disappear in the blink of an eye during startup. No icon appeared in the systray.

    Please assuage my concerns.:)

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

    1) Hitman Pro is life-time free scanning.

    2) Removal needs a license. Hitman Pro comes with 30 day free trial that starts upon activation. You should activate upon first detection, not before. You can but then your license will expire before it can be put to good use.

    3) Hitman Pro's detection is not bound to the license.

    Hope this helps.

Hitman Pro only starts a scan at boot when the previous scan was more than 24-hours ago.

    @ erikloman

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

    Thanks.

On the kids' PCs Hitman is successfully uploading to the cloud but on mine I keep getting upload failed. Any ideas?

Does Hitman automatically update itself to next programme version?

Maybe the TDL Rootkit is not a problem for 64bit maybe someone can confirm? That is the reason for the last 2 updates is to deal with new TDL variants!

I would very much like to investigate the failed upload on your kids' PC.

Try un-checking the SSL upload feature under Settings and then rescan to watch it upload.

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

As Triple Helix said the last 2 updates are all mostly related to removal of the TDL3 3.22 rootkit. This rootkit does not work on x64 and TDL3 also does not work on fully encrypted disks.

That why we decided to release x64 a bit later than x86. Next week we'll release the x64 though.

But even if I didn't activate Hitman Pro I get the option "Delete"! Why? :doubt: That's a little bit confusing for me ... :doubt:

When you then click Next you should get the activation window (if not activated or not expired).

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

Fortunately, it's my PC with the issue. The kids have zero-tolerance with security software problems on their PCs which means the software is culled immediately for my quiet life.;)

The updates were fine with SSL unchecked. Why is it important to use SSL?

Am I right in thinking that once a file is uploaded it is not uploaded again? We have horrendous download limits in Australia and I shudder at the thought of wasting bandwidth on the same files.

You are right.Only unknown files are uploaded to the cloud for analysis.

How can I scan ALL files with Hitman Pro ?
I know manually folder by folder but that's lame, I'm suprised there is no option to scan all files on all drives.

Odd that your SSL is not working. There could be a security issue, this as SSL is mighty important for making purchases on the internet.

What other security software is running on your kids machine?

Files are only uploaded once. Then the cloud scans the files for 2 months. After that the file is no longer scanned and keeps its classification. Unless someone submits the file as a false positive, then the classification information is deleted and the file is re-uploaded.

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

Recursive scanning is intentionally left out. This as it might put to much strain on the scan cloud when people just right-click on their C: drive.

In the near future there will be a payed option to scan entire drives and recursive folder scanning.

My SSL is working, just not with Hitman.

    All the PCs have Avira.

As it should be for us paid users! Or is it going to be an extra fee?
